“It’s unbelievable. Something we’re proud of because it’s never happened in Texas before,” slugger Josh Hamilton(notes) said.

Hey Josh, you got a great comeback story and all, and it's neat the Rangers finally advanced to an LCS (last franchise to do so), but Houston is in Texas, big guy.

In fact, Houston IS Texas. We can (barely) put up with the Arlington, South Oklahoma Rangers calling themselves the "Texas" Rangers, but watch your mouth.

And soon enough, proper order will be restored to the universe, the Rangers will be AL doormats, and the Astros will kick your asses twice a year.

    That is all, thank you.

To be fair, he was probably so drugged up in 2004 and 2005 and 2006, that he had no idea there was even a team in Houston.

I was cheering for the Rangers, but now I hope they lose. Their a 1-year wonder, Cliff Lee is as good as gone after this season and the only reason they're even in the playoffs is because they play in the worst division in the AL. Go Yanks

In an "anything can happen" sport like baseball, they have the ability to prove me wrong...

but I can't see the rangers beating the Rays or Yankees in a 7 game series.

in a 5 game series where lee can pitch twice??? sure.

but not in a 7 game series...particularly not where lee won't take the mound until game 3.

Yea I read this a few days ago and raged a bit inside.

Hope the Yankees kick the **** out of the Rangers, and its tough to root for the Yankees.

I'm inclined to agree with "Google Boy", I'm pretty sure he was referring to the team and not the state; he just misspoke. With that said, I am rooting for the Yankees and Phillies, for the simple fact that I am going to root for Berkman and Oswalt. I have no ill feelings for either player and hope they are successful. If it weren't for them, I'd be rooting for the off season to hurry up and start. I have always had a hard time rooting for the Yankees and don't really like the Phillies or Giants, but I would sooner have a root canal and 3 teeth removed without sedation than to root for the Rangers. I cannot really explain it, I just can't bring myself to root for them.

meh. I'm hoping the yankees win so Dallas fans have nothing to distract them from b****ing about the Cowboys season....it's too funny.

    Is that wrong?

nah it's just when something sucks so freaking bad there is no other choice but to complain and rant about it.

DFW is like a hemorrhoid, its sucks and you probably want to complain about it to someone - its not an obsession you're just complaining about how obviously sucky it is.

A better response would have been:

Prehaps, but it's not what he said. He (inadvertantly? He plays for a Dallas team, so it's hard to tell) dissed the Astros with that comment. I hope he chokes on his words.

    This.

Regardless of what he meant, he said it had never happened in Texas before.

Texas is bigger than Arlington, last I checked.

Furthermore, a WS has "never happened before" in Arlington, and you know what: that will still be true in about two weeks from now.

Why don't they just change their team name already!!! Arlington Rangers or Dallas Rangers. They don't represent all of Texas, especially with the Astros being the more dominant team IN Texas! The Angels dropped California in their name (i don't know what they are anymore, buts it's not California) so why can't the Rangers do it.

    Get it done, Ryan!

He didn't mean it's never happened in "Texas" as in the state of Texas. He meant it as Texas Rangers history.
