In the bball forum you asked for suggestions for he game presentation during Rockets games. There were some very good ideas in there.

The current format with Lisa sitting on the rail in the upper deck at home, in the tunnel in Phoenix, and in a hall closet in Denver etc is just not cutting it.

    The broadcasts are terrible.

    PS-
How in the hell are they making money on the telecasts when the only advertisers are.. well... themselves and the "Be a Part of Something Big" campaign?

Technically, it's the TV station that wouldn't be making any money. The Rockets get their money FROM the TV station. It would be the station's fault if they couldn't get advertisers. Of course, the reason they can't get advertisers is because nobody is watching the games in the first place...

If you ever wonder why your electricity bill (from Reliant/HL&P) is so high...it's because Tom and his sorry ass come on every other commercial telling everyone how great electricity is.

TOM...WE LIVE IN FREAKIN' HOUSTON....DON'T TELL US...WE KNOW HOW GREAT ELECTRICITY IS....IT RUNS OUR AC'S!!! GO AWAY AND BRING BACK THAT GOOBER THAT SCREAMS AT HIS TV DURING ROCKETS GAMES!

    Whew...that felt good!:D

Believe me, they looked over all of it and liked a lot of it from what I hear. Remember that we did that at the beginning of the season. I doubt they'll be able to implement much during the season - too much going on. But, they did hear it and they'll hear it again because the Rockets' fan council has that on their agenda as well.

I am aware that is how it usually works, but if I am not mistaken it is not that way with the Rockets.

I believe what they are doing on the Ch 51 deal is paying for the air time and selling the advertising themselves (as the Astros do).

On the Fox Sports deal (which is not yet signed) is where it works as you stated.

May be wrong, but (as I tell my wife) not likely!;)

No kidding. I saw another commercial with this guy and thought - "That's Tom! That b@st@rd lied to us! He's just an actor!" How disappointing. I actually changed my provider due to the Reliant Stadium thing. Corporate names annoy me to no end.
