you all need to stop dwelling on the past and worry about your teams future, even though its not something I would want to think about. But its obvious that Scottie has gotten over Houston, judging by how he came out tonight, played his usual great all-around game, wasn't concerned about the booing you are all so proud of(which makes you look bad when you say nothing about how your team LOST the game, but bragged about booing the player that beat you)and is moving on to the next game on his way to ANOTHER ring. It just shows that you all wanted him to stay in Houston, and you continue to think about him, if he was so terrible when he was on the team, you should be happy that he is gone, and thus not continue to criticize him when hes not even on your team.
You guys aren't going to win any title. The Lakers are about to get P.J. Brown and even if they don't,you all have issues. In fact, the Blazers won't even get by San Antonio. The trade for Steve and the signing of Shrimpman makes you more dependant on plays drawn up. The Chicken Man can't coach X's an O's well enough to see you through..Mighty Mouse is a Mason of the highest order and is like burned toast on D.You guys are a better team with Anthony at the point......at least he plays defense and can bust once in awhile. Paul Allen gave O'Neal 25 mil. over 3yrs........That's really working out isn't it?By trading Cato, you have weakened a position where Arthritis Sabonis can't play more than 25 min./game.Now,Wallace has to slide over and that takes away from the ass kicking he should always be doing at the 4.Grant is coming off a knee.Last of all, Pippen will blend in well as he has,but not be enough to get you over all these problems. Have fun! You'll cry in the end. HH [This message has been edited by Hardwood Hammer (edited December 23, 1999).]
Dear Portland Head: Nice how we took your best player and won a championship with him. Feel free to come gloat once you have your first post-Bill Walton ring. Please enjoy paying Scottie 94 Billion when he is 42 years old and refusing to go into a game because Dunleavy, er, Chicken Man, draws up a play for Detlef instead. Thhhhhhhp. Chucky Brown Fan Club
Yeah we are just dying to have his 80 million dollar ass on our team. You are the one that needs to quit whining like a little b****. But I guess it is tradition for Blazer fans and Blazer players to be the biggest cry babies in the world. I am very happy with our team, thank you. While the Blazers might be good right now, you are the one that also needs to worry about your freakin future. Pippen, Sabonis, and Steve aren't exactly young players. And then there is Damon who is goint to start whining soon enough about playing time. Name one player on your team you wouldn't trade for Steve Francis. And we are happy that his sorry ass is gone. However, we do think that the way his cuniving butt criticized Charles to get traded was completely wrong. We would even rather have a one legged Charles than the gutless Quitten.
oh and one player that I wouldnt trade for Francis, I can think of about 7 experienced veterans actually, when I said think about the future, I didnt mean after the years of rebuilding Houston is going to have to do, I was talking about the next couple seasons, when Portland will be their series of title runs, I'll wait before I would risk a trade for Francis, I'd rather see the Blazers win some titles first.
Is that seven Sabonis Grant Rasheed Quitten Detlef Damon Steve ??????????????? Except for Damon (who I think is looking more and more overrated since he left Toronto)Portland would be stupid as hell not to trade for Francis given the chance. Sabonis or Detlef or Quitten for Steve!!!!!! You wouldn't do that deal??????? Title Runs!!!!!!!!???? Would those title runs look anything like clyde's title runs with the Failers. I dont even know why I am trying to argue with your ass. The smartness of Portlanders is so obvious. I mean how could anyone resist the great SAM BOWIE with some guys like Jordan and Charles were still available in the draft. Enjoy your title runs. Cause they are just going to be runs. And when you decide that they have once again failed just give us Grant or Rasheed and we'll show you how to do it. Be like a Clyde Drexler Deja Vu.
Bring it on, 33. My man chucky brown is gonna shut scottie down during the playoffs like a portland nightclub at 10:30 pm. Spurs in 6 over the Portland Crickets, May 1999, put it in ink. hoo-ah Chucky Brown Fan Club
What's wrong little 33,don't you have an intelligent response for me?....or are you just floored with the gaping holes(as far as winning a title) in your team I just pointed out.C'mon Brat. [This message has been edited by Hardwood Hammer (edited December 23, 1999).]
hey 33 , the blazers will not win a championship anytime soon, or for that matter anytime in the next 10 years. look you had a great young nucleus of players rider, jackson, cato, williams, rogers, but you traded them away for what, a guy who is 34 and will take up alot of your cap space for the next 3 to 4 years and an aging sg who is nowhere as good as rider.and both jackson and rider are averaging more than smith , i just thought i'd let you know that. you did not improve any from last year, you just got older. and you have no center and in the playoffs you need a center to battle shaq and duncan.after the season is over for you guys i'm gonna be laughing when dunleavey gets fired along with bob whitset for bringing old crappy players in to an organization that could have been a dynasty.
1. Duncan isn't a center. 2. Portland is old. 3. The Rider trade was good. 4. Rider is a headcase. 5. Rider demanded he be THE MAN in Atlanta, hence the increase in points, besides being pretty much the only option. 6. Portland is still a good team. 7. Don't brag about the Pippen trade....it wasn't the greatest trade for the Rockets. 8. I'm a bit grumpy as I am tired. 9. #8/#9 has nothing to do with basketball =) That's all I got to say about that.
to brahma rocket, how are jackson and rider's teams doing? and how good is portland doing? you need to understand that scoring is not the most important thing in the NBA, its what the player does to help his team win, and i think portlands doing a rather fine job of that. And as for no center, I think you should look at scotties fingers to answer the question "can a team win without a center?" And chicago didnt have close to the amount of talent portland has now rockets03, it looks like you are still thinking about the past, the years of drexler are over, you are in the rebuilding phase and you need to accept it, and I dont think that Portland is going to break up the team they have for a while so dont worry about getting wallace or grant, its not going to happen, we already gave you half our team for pippen, and you aren't regretting that are you? And as for hardwood, i would take sabonis(considered the greatest player not from america)over the great cato anyday
...."Chicago didn't have close to the amount of talent Portland does"........two words.........Michael Jordan........M.J. and the role players.Pippen owes it all to Mike baby!....No Mike,No rings.... [This message has been edited by Hardwood Hammer (edited December 23, 1999).]
No Scottie No Rings, No Mike No rings. Pippen and Jordan needed each other, the bulls could have never won without Pippen's defense nor could they have won without M.J.'s scoring, Bottom Line offensive takes the glory but defense wins championships. Scottie and the Bulls had a winning season without Mike, they were 55-27 the year the Rockets won their first title. ------------------ "Lamar Odom, Elton Brand, Wally Szczerbiak and Shawn Marion are guys who are going out to score. That's not my job on this team right now. But if I needed to, if my coach asked me to go out and score 30, I can get it in one quarter" -- Steve Francis.
Mike turned Pippen into the player he has been......he helped Pippen squeeze the most out of his talent.....your right though... Congratulations Francis23,That's really cool....An early Christmas present! [This message has been edited by Hardwood Hammer (edited December 23, 1999).]
I know I shouldn't waste my time, but "...i would take sabonis(considered the greatest player not from america)..." If that doesn't give you the early morning giggles, I don't know what does.
33 you're right. We wanted Pippen to stay. We wanted him to be a man and honor the contract he signed here. We wanted him to honor the words he spoke about playing championship level basketball here. We wanted him to honor the commitment that the fans and the organization made to him when he came. We wanted him to honor the sacrifice that Barkley made to play with him. We wanted him to honor the efforts made in the off-season to sign players that would enable the Rockets to change to an offensive system he would be more comfortable in. We overlooked one simple fact. Pippen has no honor. I guess the joke's on us. Enjoy him. He won't bring you a championship and he will blame others for not winning. If the other players step up and Portland does win the championship, he will certainly take credit for it. Hmmm....maybe the joke's really on you.
33, We did want pippen to stay - everyone here was ecstatic when he signed - this webpage had a record number of hits that day. It was pippen who didn't want to stay and he made an ass of himself in order to get traded. Our first choice wouldn't have been the trade for 6 Portland reserves but we made the best of a bad situation. You don't have a lot options when you HAVE to trade a highly paid, aging player who has just come off the worst season in his career. No-one in the league wanted him, except....Portland! No-one can take away what Pippen achieved in Chicago (some people in here will try) - he was a large part of it, but 33, you can't possibly deny that what he did here was wrong. Take a look at the history of the player you like so much - research some old Chicago print media. You might be surprised. "...you all need to stop dwelling on the past and worry about your teams future, even though its not something I would want to think about" There is a saying in Pro sports, that once you've been to the top, you will pass everyone on the way back down again. Well, we are passing everyone on the way down, but that's because we've been to the top - and that is a piece of the past that we CAN dwell on and you can't
Hold on Devo. There were more stories than what you heard from the media. Scottie really loved Houston. That's a fact. He had reasons to leave the town for all cost. 1. Scottie thought the Rockets were really slowed down with Hakeem in the middle. So he wanted the Rockets to make move on Hakeem. The Raptors were verge of giving up Kevin Willis and T-Mac for Hakeem. But Hakeem was crying about "Loyalty", so the Rockets couldnot make the deal. Pippen was disappointed. 2. Nike Tour. Chuck and Pippen went on to Nike tour soon after playoff was over. During this tour, Pippen's associates have told Scottie that Barkely does not care about winning the title. This really bothered Scottie a lot. 3. TV match With all the disappointment, Scottie expressed his interest playing for LA behind media. But it was Barkley who told Scottie to make appologies to fans in Houston on the national TV. This was enough to trigger Scottie's anger. I don't like how Scottie got out of Houston. It was uneccesary. But would Houston let Scottie go softly? Also, why does Scottie get all the critisms? Why is people look at Barkley as good guy?
