    I need some education...

I mostly listen to rap & hip-hop, so I'm pretty ignorant when it comes to DMB. I'm sure I've heard his music since so many people listen to the stuff, but I probably couldn't identify a single song of his.

I'm heading down to JazzFest this year with some people and apparently he is one of the Saturday shows. I don't want to get down there and be totally unaware of his stuff, but I'm also not going to buy 10 of his CDs.

Anyone have a suggestion for 1 or 2 really good ones (i.e. what are your favorite 2)?

Also, if you have a clue who Widespread Panic is, that would help me out too. Thx.

Definitely, definitely get Before these Crowded Streets. I'd say it's easily their best work.

As far as getting into DMB, I would get Crash.

Since you are trying to get ready to see them live and not asking about the best way to get into the band and their music, I think the best thing would be to buy a live CD or 2. Central Park and Live at Folsom Field might be a good idea.
