To celebrate NBA Heritage Week, the Rockets will be one of nine teams to wear retro uniforms, during their nationally televised games this week. The Rockets will wear their 94-95 Homes against the Pistons on ESPN this Wednesday. I hope the Rockets continue beyond just the Pistons game, and have multiple Retro days like they did, in I think 04-05. I don't understand why we stopped after that year.
Awesome! Glad to see them mixing it up a little. I would really love to see them bust out the blue ones too, just to piss off everyone who hated on them.
when i heard the nba was doing this i was crossing my fingers it would be for that game. that's the one weslinder hooked everybody up with half price tickets. guess i'll have to bust out one of my throwback jerseys. olajuwon? maloney? see you guys in 114!
In all honesty, I think the reason they don't want to wear the throwbacks from 94-95 more often is because the new logo/jersey compared to the throwback falls very very short! So in order to really push merchandise with the new logo, they try to limit displaying the older logo. I remember looking on the official Rockets site some time ago, and in the section about fans sending in photos, the were encouraging fans to use the new jerseys and not the old ones. Could be something else, but I truly believe it is for the sake of trying to make the new jersey more popular. The new logo and jersey aren't bad, actually its one of the better ones in the NBA, but it still can't compare to the throwback "McDonalds" (as my girlfriend calls them) jerseys!
dont think weve seen the 94 jerseys in quite some time now. i think the 1971-1972 jerseys are the best
Glad to see the old jerseys again because all the new stuff is crap. No offense to those who like the new stuff.
Lol @ the NBA calling it Heritage Week. That's just way too formal. Why not just call it Throwback Week? It that too "hip hop" for David Stern and company?
