I notice that in the other thread. Just out of curiuosity, (SP) isn't there more than one big man camp. I would think there would be. But I don't know.
i did this as a separate thread becuase i'm shocked/impressed at some of the people that are there: mike dunleavy, jr? jason richardson? tskitishvili? these aren't your big men of today, so i wouldn't have expected to see them there. can you imagine cat at the big man camp??? how about oscar torres??? anyone else surprised at some of these names?
Didn't say it did not deserve another thread, just mad that the Cato thing got repeated. Besides J-Rich, I think the other two may belong. Mike may play PF.(hahaha!) And TS...that other dude may play PF or C. They probably need to learn the fundamentals, or some post-up moves. edit: also, no Rockets are involved, according to that, so it could be in the NBA DISH. ok, I guess its fine here.
haha...can't wait til next year when mike dunleavy jr. shows off his sweet low post moves on karl malone or ben wallace...him going to that camp may help his game...but it's still pretty funny.
I believe there was an earlier session this summer..... I did not see Cato on that list either, but someone a while back emailed that he attended, but offered no proof. Cato and Collier better freakin attend with Griffin......
I'm a little suprised more guards don't go to big man camps, especially point guards. Richardson is a big guy, not necesarily in height, but I recall he's got some bulk on him - very solidly built. If he could incorporate low post moves into his arsenal, really take advantage of that bulk, he'd be pretty lethal.
I think that a big man camp can be beneficial to players that aren't your typical "big men." I always assumed that the camps taught the players how to be aggressive down low and post up and things you expect out of your larger players.
<a href="http://www.petenewellbigmancamp.net/page9.html">did you see the alumni list</a> Hakeem Shaq Divac Ralph Sampson Bill Walton Scottie Pippen James Worthy Jermaine Cato (with Portland I figure) Igauskas Kemp Ben Wallace Bernard King Manning Marion Kenyon Martin Potapenko Tsakalidis George Zidak Notice no Nowitski. I guess he isn't impressed. LOL!
I'm confused, has Griffin been to a camp already, or is he going to one later on. If my memory is correct, I recall someone saying that he was going to goto one a few weeks after the season ended. anyone know?
I think if Cato has ALREADY been to the camp, as heypartner posted, that doesn't speak wonders for the camp.
applying your very lame attempts at crude bball logic, all the "better centers" from Europe go, so that doesn't speak wonders for their alternative camps. Cut the stupidity TheFreak just to annoy. Many who want to learn attend, including something like 6-8 HOFers, as I've already posted.
Don't you guys think there may be a bigger trend here? I realize we all love writing bad things about Cato... but for some reason, Kenny Thomas, Eddie Griffin, yadda3... no Rocket players are at the camp. Do the Rockets not attend these things anymore? Is that something dictated by mgmt? i.e. Steve Francis?
CD, Mr Mean and Westside offer them a lot, Achebe. Do you not think Kenny improved last year? Certainly much more than Potapenko and Tsakalidis and all those other Euro big men. The camp is not for Rockets, because CD and Mr Mean are the best trainers around. They just can't have camps by NBA rules. Othella learned a lot from CD, and KT is progressing very well. What other young big men have we tried to develop, since CD took over and Mr Mean became a teacher? Maurice went early in his career. Cato did. Cato just doesn't want to be the oldest person there, with the biggest salary.
Thats why you don't believe all these hard working stories and all this other stuff. Cato is a slacker and so are a couple of other people i dare not name. The proof is in the pudding and we'll see how hard these players were "working their asses off" will be later on.
