    Has this been posted before?
<b>He (Tito) was dismissed from the team last August for allegedly accepting an airline ticket from a Las Vegas-based sports agency. Maddox's dismissal came after he was suspended eight games by the NCAA during the 2000-01 season for accepting a trip to Las Vegas.

Probably the reason he didn't go any higher in the draft - he lost a year after putting up some great numbers as a freshman.

Yes. It's why he dropped in the draft from being among the best PG prospects to come out of high school when he came out. What he displayed at the summer league games was him after after a looooong layoff from organized basketball.

What does this have to do with Tito and the Rockets? Nothing. Atleast it wasn't fighting with teammates or substance abuse.

I'm guessing the fact that it's about Tito makes it have something to do with Tito and the fact that Tito is a Rocket makes it have something to do with the Rockets, but what do I know?

It was in college, just like Eddie punching his teammate, did we see anything resembling that in Griff last year? NO! So I don't think people should dip into a player's past so much. He is a new Rocket, therefore, he deserves a clean slate. He's done nothing as a Rocket to make you doubt him as a player or a person. Besides, I'd probably taken the trip to Vegas as well.:D

I don't recall anyone doubting him as a player or his character. Maybe you're just jumping to conclusions.

    Anyway,

    ROXRAN,

From what I saw him display at the Cali summer leagues, he has a great ability to get inside the paint. The biggest fault I saw in his game was that he seemed to be turnover prone once he got there. He did show a lot of ability to play defense, but did get burned as well. He seems to be about 6'4" (?) but he crouches very low to the ground and explodes on his penetrations. He seemed to try to break at every opportunity, but I don't know if this is because it's something innate or because the coaches were yelling for all the guards to run (which they were during the games).

There's definitely potential there if he learns to protect the ball and make good decisions. I'm guessing the coaching staff is banking on potential on this kid because coming out of high school, he was all world. So drool on that... ;)

Definitely think the turnover problems he had will be overcome once he becomes familiar w/ the players/offense. Hopefully preseason will shed a lot of light on him and he will shine then.

i sense that this draft could very well be one of the best in Rox history. Imagine getting a center, SF and SG/PG in one draft who all could be major players for years to come at the price we only have to pay now.

    Bring on the pre/season

I didn't mean for it to come off that I think that Tito is going to be a problem player like Iverson. I just posted info. that I found, because I thought it was new to the BBS.

Then maybe you should look at it like maybe this story would explain why he looked so rusty in the summer leagues especially since he's reputed to have some pretty good skillz.

I dont believe that bringing it up in any way diminshes his reputation or causes any of us to not like him.

and btw, I actually had heard this story before. As soon as the Rox chose him, I did some searching to find out more about him..I just never bothered to bring it up. Especially with all the Yao Ming threads goin on..noone would have ever seen it.

That's classic Rockets, but I am already tired of drooling. The Rockets usually use their second round picks on players who have been great in high school or early in college but mediocre in their last year.

Othello Harrington was a high-school phenom but didn't play well in Georgetown. Supposedly, we were told, because Iverson would not give up the ball. So Kayman starts drooling...

Randy Livingston was better than Iverson in high school, then has an injury and doesn't do much in college. We were told he was 100%recovered and Kayman is drooling all over...

Terrence Morris was supposed to be a high lottery pick had he left the year before. One bad year in Maryland, and ... boy! how lucky we are that we can get him in the 2nd round and it "only" costs us a future first rounder. Kayman soaked in drool.

We all know how those turned out, I am sorry, I am just out of drool for the moment to spend on Tito...

Wow Tito is a bad guy...

What he did "wrong" was something that would be ok for ANYONE but an NCAA athlete. If I gave you a plane ticket, would you be have difficulty finding a job? Probably not...

WOW for the first time I agree with you. Not really the way you said it, but I agree with what you said in essence.

I don't blame you and a lot of the stuff you say is true. By the way, the Randy Livingston story was that coming out of high school, he was more highly-regarded than Jason Kidd, but I get the point.

The problem is ... these are 2nd round picks. I drool at the possibility of getting a steal like Cuttino Mobley in the 2nd round. If the 2nd round pick turns out to be average-at-best or a flop, then I have no reason to be disappointed. After all, that's what most 2nd round picks end up as. The drooling comes from the fact that once in a while, you get a steal, and in this case I'm hoping lightning strikes twice... so I'll be slobbering. Of course I saw Tito play in the summer and well, he's further from being a steal than not... but still I drool at the possibility.
