Webby Awards are given to cool sites. I don't know anything about them, but that is not my story. Who remembers the post I made about molecular images of beers of the world: <FONT SIZE="2" FACE="Verdana, Arial"><A HREF="http://bbs.clutchcity.net/ubb/Forum7/HTML/003392.html">Is this what your kids are doing in grad school, or "beers are cool"</A> </FONT> Well, this site is up for a Webby Award. It is part of a Florida State research project. So a professor there decides he really wants to win this award. How is he going to do it?!! ...he decides to scour the internet for links to his site. He can do this by using his server logs to find all outside links to his page. (Yes, this is elementary to do.) So that data would list cc.net and point right to my post. With that info, the coolest professor in the world here then has his indentured servants (grad students), look closer at the referring links to find an email address to send a thank you and request to help them win the award. Oh, and if you are worried about registering your email address, go get a spamgourment.com self-destructing email account first. Then type any random variation of your spamgourmet account into the Webby Award registration, and you are in with zero possibility of spam hitting you.
Here is all I did. Since I already have a spamgourmet.com base account called heypartner@spamgourmet.com, I made up the following email address right there on the Webby Award registration page: webby.3.heypartner@spamgourmet.com I just made that up on the fly and typed it in. Then gave a phoney name. The number 3 tells spamgourmet will allow 3 emails through to me before destroying that made up email account. cool!!! One email just came through with my password. STOP SPAM through attrition Use spamgourmet self-desctructing email address to register or buy things. try it rockHEAD. Achebe is using it.
