Now that Rashard Lewis is out there we are all trying our hardest and thinking of ways to get him, or if it's not him it's Odom or someone else. But we have enough good players and depth (especially at forward) that we don't need to make any big moves (the only thing we really need is a better backup SG). As of now this is how our roster looks. C: Ming, Cato, Collier PF: Taylor, Thomas, Griffin SF: Rice, Nachbar, Williams, Morris, Langi SG: Mobely, Torres PG: Francis, Norris, Brown, Maddox That's 17 players. If anything we need to get rid of players and here are the guys that got to go. Brown/Maddox- whichever one plays better in camp gets the job the other hits the road. Williams- His time in Houston is up Taylor- we need to dump his contract. ANd give Griffin and Thomas more playing time Morris/Langi- same situation as Brown and Maddox
Duncan will NEVER be the next Hakeem. He is a Power Forward,Hakeem was a Center. Duncan is a finesse player and Hakeem was a power player. Duncan is great but Hakeem was greater and so much more versatile!! Do not take the name of Hakeem in jest!
what about willis. Once you think about it, dallas is scared of h town. The keep trying to get our players. Example the wanted moochie, they are talking to willis, they said ming sucks and don't draft them, and now they go after lewis. I think they don't want us to be the most dominat team in texas or something.
i'm o.k. with getting lewis for the MCE because it improves our team, but i have no problem with staying put. it seems, on paper, we have all the pieces to contend once they mature. if dallas gets him, fine, it doesn't do much for them except keep dirk out of position for even longer stretches. with or without lewis, i'd put my money on the rocks winning a championship before the mavs.
I am ecstatic about our current roster. I would not want to do any deals unless the deal involes a player like Lewis. Lewis for the MCE is an absolute steal.
I also like the team we have... If we added a player like Lewis he would take a lot of money to sign...(in a sign and trade)... I like the fact that Glenn Rice only has 2 more seasons(probably will retire after that) and we will still have Nachbar and hopefully Morris here... They will be role players... Not too sure Lewis will accept being 4th go to player... With Francis, Mobley, Taylor, Griffin, Thomas and coming soon Ming we have the offense... If Rice is healthy we will be solid... Then guys like Norris, Torres, Nachbar, Morris and Cato will play their roles... I really can't understand why Dallas wants Lewis anyways... I'm sorry but I will put Taylor, Thomas and Griffin(or any PF) against Nowiztki... Dirk is not a that good at rebounding or doing the things a big man does... I will love seeing PF's eat him up... Yeah he's 7'0 but that didn't stop Webber or Divac... They just went around or over him and if they missed they got the rebound... But hey if thats what they want to do... I'm more surprised that San Antonio didn't try to get Lewis or even Devean George... Instead they just signed back Bowen and Ferry, OOOHHH Scary!!! I figure their trying to keep cap space to resign Duncan... I don't see that happening unless Duncan stops being a @#$^% and play center or they add another Center next season... I'd take Rashard Lewis for a few players and possibly a pick but that is probably a long shot... So if Dallas wants him well we'll see how he likes being 5th-6th option there... With Nash, Finley, Nowiztki, LaFrentz, Van Exel and then here you go Mr. Lewis its your turn... They do lack that PF position with exception to Najera... I like our team as is personally...
Okay all you befuddled wishmakers, here's the dump list: Willis & Williams (going to Iceland to form 2 man bobsled team) Langhi & Torres (gone to China, Europe, or some other foreign, exotic place to play) Mo T (traded for R Lewis) yeah baby, so rough and randy, those rockets
It is definately time for the Rockets to stay put. Never underrate chemistry. With two new draft picks this season plus the returns of Taylor and Rice, the Rockets have 4 key players they have to integrate or re-integrate into their system - 5 if you want to include Francis after missing time last year with his ailments. In both conferences, the teams that build slowly, stay together, and develop as a team tend to do the best. With the combination of talent on the Rockets' roster, adding anyone else and trying to develop chemistry there is more likely a negative move than a positive. Secondly, I'm not sure I understand this attempt to sign Rashard Lewis. To succeed in today's NBA, you have to leave yourself with cap flexibility to keep your own players and be able to grow the team. With Francis coming up for an extension and many of the younger players not far away from that point as well, signing Rashard now limits what you can do in the future for little short term gain. In addition, with Nachbar and hopefully Rice, do the Rockets really have the need for another small forward? At that point, you are either getting nothing out of Rice or slowing the development of Nachbar, again for little current return. Even with Lewis, the Rockets would not win a title this year or even for a couple of seasons; he's not much more than a complementary role player with good potential. My view is that the best bet is to stick with developing Nachbar and getting what you can out of Glen Rice. I'm sure a couple of more moves will end up being made, but none on a large scale such as signing a player like Rashard Lewis. Perhaps signing a backup shooting guard, or not re-signing someone, but nothing major. Keep the team together, see what you can do, and look back in the summer of 2003 and determine what needs to be done to continue the Rockets' quest for a title.
I think we need to DOWNsize our roster a bit. Lose a PF (KT or Mo T). Then T-Mo would get decent minutes as the 3rd string SF and PF, while Griffin gets good minutes, and Mo recovers comfortably , not worrying about someone kicking him while he's not at his best. Rice will get 20 minutes or so, as well as Nachbar, which will give T-Mo something like 15 minutes a game, which is enough to show if he can do anything. We need a backup SG. The popular trade is KT for a defensive minded backup SG. How does KT for Dion Glover sound? Would Atlanta do that? I know you guys wouldn't, but that's only because we're Houston fans.
I have said for some time now that this team is all set. I did recently entertain the Lewis thing because it gave us a chance to do some things like ease up the logjams we have but moving out two players and bring in one. I remain shocked at the nonsence that comes out of that boy's mouth. Six month ago I said that he needed to watch what he says. That was after he declared he was going to be a free agent. The things he said then were uncalled for and reflected a narrow understanding of how fickle life is. What could he possible gain from saying that Dallas has a better organization?
I personally think KT is our insurance policy at PF... Don't forget MO-T has to sit out 5 games and MO-T is coming off an injury... If we were to let KT go without adding a backup PF then if injury hit us there we would be in trouble... Only Griffin to play the position or only Taylor to play the position... Its a great problem to have I tell you that much... If we make any moves at the PF position it won't be until the trade deadline during the season... Just my opinion... I'd love to keep KT but he's too good to be 3rd string PF... I'm afraid thats what he will be for this coming season...
Come on, man. The whole point of the offseason is to make mindless trade proposals that help the Rockets and screw the other team over.
Langhi, Willis, & Williams are GONE Brown and Maddox are fighting for one spot Morris is supposedly being kept Moochie and KT are the most likely to be traded Don't know about Oscar, but he's probably a safety if we can't get a FA, or maybe he's gone if the Rockets are stupid enough to think Tito can play SG just because he's 6'4
