School doesn't really start until you write your first referal. It seems like school has started for me!!! This kid starts using words synonymous with copulation and feces in class. I kindly ask this kid to step outside and while trying to disuss this rationally with him says that I embarrassed him and I don't like him. All the time I'm trying to explain what is acceptable in my class, but he starts talking about feces and where bad people go. I have him wait oustside and when I come back with his disciplinary referal, lo and behold, he's gone. By the time security rounds him up and brings him back to my class, he has already gotten a schedule change out of my class. I think I'm going to like this new adminsistration!!!
This year I have sophomores, but the kid that got sent out was a jr taking sophomore English... . I think he's on our six year plan. I teach in Los Fresnos...it's a small town about 10 miles north of Brownville and more importantly about 15 miles west of South Padre Island. Tell me about it...I can't complain though. I had a fulfilling summer and it's time to get back to the grind.
falcons talon, you must not have seen the substitute with tom berenger and marc anthony. that's how you are supposed to treat your students when they try to mess with you. ... or maybe 187 starring samuel l. jackson. on a serious note... good job with that little f'er. it's too early in the school year for crap like that.
I saw 'em both! Tom Berenger did a good job...Sammy shouldv'e quit while he was ahead. Jim Belushi did a superb job as a principal!!! BTW, you can call me FT.
I drove through there a couple of weeks ago, place is one giant speed trap. I managed to slip through though.
Not anymore... The city has some SERIOUS money issues and have layed off many of their cops. I haven't seen one cop on the prowl in two weeks of driving to and from work.
Speed traps were designed to help townships with serious money issues. They must really be in a bind. Though you're already a seasoned vet, I'll repeat some advice from my mother who was once a teacher and school principal. On the first or second day of school, you must find something to get mad about and just lay into all the kids. After that, they'll be afraid to mess with you.
LMAO!!! I was writing on the dry erase board with a permanent marker!!! I caught it before it could dry and luckily had a bottle of dry erase cleaner to saturate it with and wipe it off. That was pretty exciting!!!
Damn, down in the Valley! How often do the curse words from the kids flow in Espanol? What's spanish for hell? Purgatorio?
I start school next week, going to suck ass, although its my senior year! Heres my schedule, got it today: 1st- Government 2nd-Study Hall 3rd-English 4th-Latin 4 5th-Biology 2 6th-Stats 7th-Stage Design (dont ask me why i took it, conselor said colleges like a fine arts credit)
So did I, except today was the day we started school AND got our schedules. I'm a junior, so it is just another boring school year. 1st- English 3 AP 2nd- Chemistry 3rd- Web Mastering 4th- Cisco I/II (for 2nd semester) 5th- US History AP 6th- Pre-Cal 7th- Good ole Athletics We don't really have many classes to pick from, but I am beginning to be able to get some more computer classes, which is the field I think I want to get into. I had Theatre Arts as a freshman for the art credit. I didn't really like it though. I was only doing it because I suck at real art, and there was no other class for an art credit. In the only play I was in, I was rapist. Actually, I was just this really old guy who has a relationship with two women, one which is like 15 or something. I HATED that play. Already got homework too, and I only went to the last 3 classes on my schedule. We had one those travelling groups of people that try to get kids to do activities in the morning. Man, we have a lot of pregnant girls, especially for such a small school.
My senior year was: 1) English IV College Now (Easy for a kid who had been G/T all through school) 2) Calculus AB (my only "real" class senior year) 3) Study Hall 4) Office Aide for the front office (if I didn't sleep straight through SH, I slept in here) 5) Bio II (stupid teacher, did/learned nothing) 6) Off Period 7) Off Period I had last lunch during 5th period, so I'd just leave then and go home or to work. Got out around noon.
