Here is a proposed trade that would solve two of the Rockets' problems- getting more minutes for Griffin at PF and having a stud SF. The Rockets should offer M. Taylor to Seattle for R. Lewis via a sign a trade. Remember Seattle was in the running for M. Tayor when he first signed with the Rockets. Our front line would be Ming, Griffin, and Lewis, all 6' 10''+. Rice, Thomas and Nachbar would be the backups. I would then move Rice for a backup SG that is at least 6'6''- then the Rockets could play with anybody. Any thoughts?

There gonna want more than Mo Taylor for Lewis. Not to mention Lewis is looking to make more money than we are paying Taylor.

they would never do that deal. Besides Rashard wants the maximum and that is much more then what we can offer.

I think you are nuts. First off, nobody wants rice's 9 million a years contract, unless we take another overpaid worthless player in return. and it is very doubtful that seattle would have any interest in mo taylor since he is coming back from a huge injury and is reported to be 70 lbs overweight for a franchise player like rashard. Impossible!

Keep in mind that that R. Lewis can leave if he wants to and the Sonics get nothing. This way they can at least get Taylor. We can even add a player to match a reasonable salary (not the max) for Lewis.

Why would Lewis want to play for a team that snubbed him not once but twice. You guys must be forgetting how bad Lewis felt sitting in that green room on draft day when his hometown Rockets were passing him by for players with not even half the talent he has.

Why do they need Mo Taylor when they already have Vin Baker at PF? Are they goin to put him as a backup?? I don't think so...

    r. lewis will not be able to leave b/c he wants the max and nobody can play him the max unless there is a sign and trade and other team gets rid of a player to compensate for the salary hit.

I rather have Nachbar for less then $10 Million then Rashard Lewis for $70 Million or so.

TG-3 times and don't you forget it!

Lewis has had several quotes saying he would like to come home-that was a few years ago, most indications say he's forgiven.

Anyhow, I wouldn't pursue Lewis now. Every indication is that Nachbar is going to be a very good SF pretty quickly, and we have plenty of support with Rice and T-Mo. It's not a good idea to give a huge contract to a guy who likely would be the 5th best player on the team if everyone (Griffin, and Ming) works out the way they should.

Rashard is asking way too much money. TexasG...I think he still wants to play in his hometown, but his agent is using this as a pawn for more money. Seattle wouldn't want Mo now anyways. Let's see how Nachbar works out. I think he'll be fine and it'll be good to have a player knowing his role and playing well in it. I don't think the ball could go around with Steve, Cat, Griffin and now Yao as well as Lewis...

I think the current roster will work out fine and there are no needs for another sf, ESPECIALLY one getting the max, unless his name is Tracy Mcgrady and all we need to do is get rid of one of our pf's but the problem is that nobody wants Mo and his fat contract, and eddie has to much potential, while kenny is too likeable to let go.

Any trade would involve us giving up something good, meaning, NOT just a collection of Collier/Rice/Moochie/Maurice Taylor/Cato. Taylor is coming off a serious injury (with a good chance of full recovery ) and mucho pounds overweight - a nice recipe for reinjuring himself in some way, with a long term, medium dollar contract.

What does Lewis do so well that Nachbar can't?

Lewis is basically a spot up shooter, above average rebounder, and an average defender. Robert Horry without the defense. Nachbar has the athleticism, the shooting, and is only an inch shorter in size. He also has better ballhandling and a better ability to finish. His defense is suspect, but that can be worked on. I'd rather have him at a reasonable contract than Rashard Lewis, a spot up shooter, at the max.

Say it with me now : If Rashard Lewis gets the raise he wants, he will become a Base Year Compensation Player, and we won't be able to trade straight up for him, unless we overloaded the deal with salaries like the Heat did with Jones.

Lewis is looking for the max (or something close to it) and Nachbar will be on his rookie contract. Nachbar is looking like a great fit for the Rockets. Lewis is a good shooter and a great rebounder but he can't create his own shot and lacks on defense. Nachbar can shoot lights out, create his own shot and handle the ball very well, and finish strong but he also lacks on defense. He should be able to help establish a good running game. Having Nachbar is much more worth it at his price. Plus I doubt Seattle would want Mo's long term contract.
