Yao Ming, Houston Rockets We don't know much about Ming, but one thing is certain: he'll spend a lot of time on the pine with foul trouble while the refs check out his game to see if he's the next Shawn Bradley, and that process will probably make his initial skirmishes with O'Neal into the most overhyped, overrated matchups of the season. Everything else is a crapshoot ¡ª Ming seems to have some strength and skills, but adjusting the NBA schedule will be a killer for him, and don't be surprised if nagging injuries put him on the injury list for a month or two. The Rockets will be entertaining, but the combination of a soft front line and a difficult learning curve will have even the titanic Ming fighting an uphill battle by the All-Star break
Jeez, doom and gloom. Yao's mere presence is overhauling the Rockets. His stats won't tell 1/10th of the story this season.
When was this written? August? East coast writers seem like they are required to be cynical and mean-spirited. What? If they don't, are they made fun of in their little writer locker rooms or something? First, it was, "Oh, he'll be bust." Next, it was, "He's skilled but he's not agressive enough." Next, it was, "He's pretty agressive and he has skills but he isn't strong enough." Now, it is "He's going to spend most of his time either on the bench in foul trouble on on the injured list because he's going to get beaten around."
We don't know much about this idiot, but one thing is certain: he does not know sh** about Ming. The note must be copied and pasted from June. Did he even watch the Dallas game. Ming vs Bradley: 30-0. That I would call a most overmatched game of the centers.
