My Yahoo e-mail account has been hacked and is sending out bogus e-mails from my address, including to bbs members. I don't want to change my e-mail because virtually everything is linked to it, any suggestions?
I don't want to change my e-mail address, is there anything i can do to stop this, short of changing it?
Damn. Wish I could edit my posts before I put my foot in my mouth. Why not just try a password change? That oughta do the trick unless someone has a password sniffer/key logger on your machine. In that case... try downloading MalwareBytes Anti-Malware (http://www.filehippo.com/download_malwarebytes_anti_malware/) or SpyBot Search-And-Destroy (http://www.filehippo.com/download_spybot_search_destroy/) It wouldn't hurt to run both if you haven't checked your comp for spyware/malware in a while. Good luck.
Yup, I've been outed. My sis, a couple friends, and you have brought it to my attention. I don't know what the hell is going on.
You are most likely F'd in the A. If you change your password and it's still sending out emails then you pretty much have to change addresses. Also you might want to do some virus/spyware scans.
Yeah, i couldn't find spy bot for mac and the same with the other program. I'm changing my password now.
I had this problem on my hotmail account. Changing my password fixed it for me. A bogus email had been sent out to everyone on my contact list. IF for some reason changing your password doesn't work, you could update your contact list. Maybe remove the email address from the email spot on the contact information page, and put it in another spot, like misc. or the persons last name. Probably not worth all of that, but it could be a last case scenario. Pugs
Well this happened to me a few times (within the span of about a month) and i just installed a good anti-virus software and changed my password and all seems well for now.
something like this happened to a cousin last year, the hacker sent an email asking for money, and deleted all the contacts, even the hacker changed the password, but she got in her email through the secret question, and then she changed her password and hasnt happened again.
This one is telling people that i made $ amount on the net and to click on a link if they want to find out how. A couple of my buddies wrote back "dude, is this legit", lol. Hopefully the password change will work.
I love when people use the word "hacked" when in actuality they probably just got phished and put their password into some bogus site that stole their login info. Meaning, it's your own fault.
This is true about 99% of the time. Being cautious online will usually do more good for you then some antiviruses.
Change your password with one that is more than 10 characters and nothing inside that makes up a word. It's better for you to take your lumps while you're ****ed.
Are you using a Mail Client? Like Outlook, Thunderbird, Incredimail, Mac Mail ? etc? Or strictly webmail?
