Im in the market for a desktop. What specifications should I look for?? Im looking for a CPU that includes keyboard, mouse and speakers, already have a monitor. Price range between $ 300-600. TIA!
You should look for Justin Long and have him lend you 1600 bucks and a beret so you can buy a Mac and join the rest of snobilization.
yeah whatever, Remember that when you have to clean your computer of viruses. Mac's aren't for everyone but niether are pc's.
What do you need it to do? Anything special, other than get online and run typical programs? If I were to buy a desktop today I'd start researching first with HP.
lol. No kidding. It's like saying, "I want clothes - what should I get?" BrieflySpeaking, What kind of apps do you run, what kind of work do you do, what do you use it for most, etc?
If you have little clue about what to look for, I'd recommend going to your local BestBuy or Fry's and ask the questions. And yeah, your definition of "good desktop" will depend on what you are going to do with it, is it for internet/chatting only, or for movie editing, or for engineering, etc.
What are your looking for? Power? Media/Home theater? OS? I Love the DELL studio hybrid. It have HDMI and you can even get bluray.link
I just need it for the house. To get online, run regular programs, nothing too complex. I dont think I want an HP, my sis had a notebook and shes had problems with the battery life and the screen flickering.
ok so if you just want to watch p*rn on it which is what it sounds like you can get any basic HP tower you see at best buy. they are generally a decent value can run around 400 bucks or so. just make sure to buy the firewall/virus/spyware programs along with it you will probably need them
If it's mostly for going online and word processing I'd go with a netbook. You'll have a super portable laptop and if you want to display it on your monitor just buy a vga cable.
You realize this isn't because Windows-based machines aren't more susceptible to viruses, right? Creators of malicious things like that want maximum exposure, and since most people use Windows, it is the primary target -- it has nothing to do with Macs being more secure. You should hope people stop buying Macs if you like them so much. If their market share continues to grow, so will the number of viruses for it.
Notebooks are totally different from desktops. Desktops don't have a battery, and you have your own monitor. I'd go to your local Best Buy or anywhere else that sells computers and find a couple you like, then search online to see if you can find it cheaper (start at newegg.com). If not, just buy it from the store.
Of course if Macs become used more for business the viruses will start but still...I love my Mac but I don't hate PC's. I just think you get what you pay for and My iMac is 4 years old and is as fast and clean as when i bought it. Fanboy to the bone i know
Not to say that the virus creators can't do it, but Mac's are actually more secure in that they are built as one cohesive unit with parts from the same manufacturer, unlike PC's. How much more secure? Who knows- we'll find out if Mac's start being used more broadly. At the current price, though, not many corporations are going to use them so it's a moot point I think. Anyhow, we've had enough Mac/PC debates I think...I honestly like both.
I got a HP desktop. It seemed to do the dew. Got it at Walmart, like 2 years ago for around $399. I rarely use it since I got my HP Pavilion though.
