This virus thing I have on my computer had my computer down for a while. I finally got it to boot up into windows etc. It disables my VSCAN, it doesn't let me see the processes when I press crt alt delete. It pops up little messages every now and then about certain crap. Also, it sometimes takes away the turnoff computer option from the start menu so all I can do is log off or switch user. It sucks.

It also takes me 5-10 min to boot up my system. Windows loads fine with no problem, but then it sits there not allowing me to open any program/ etc. I have to wait till a pop up comes up and then click no on the the download message. Then it allowsme to run programs.

It really sucks. I have scanned it with vscan, and panda online scans trying to get rid of it.

What sucks is that my computer had never seen the internet before, and I got Verizon DSL. And after I installed the Verizon software and got online for the first time it suddenly started with the pop ups etc. I am pissed. I am just happy though that now after hours upon hours of trying to fix my pc I can now boot up windows and can get online.

Virus foud: W32/Bagle.n VSCAN finds like 700detections of it.

From Symantec Web Site: Also known as W32.Beagle.M

The W32.Beagle.M@mm is a polymorphic mass-mailing worm that uses its own SMTP engine to spread through email. Like previous Beagle variants, this worm opens a backdoor (it listens on TCP port 2556) and attempts to spread through file-sharing networks by copying itself to folders that contain "shar" in their names. W32.Beagle.M@mm also infects files with the EXE extension.

Here's the link to the site and removal instructions:

    Good luck

thanks. I am trying their removal tool. I don't know how I didn't find that with all the time I spent on other sites trying to find a removaltool. I thought I would have to have nortan etc. for their site.

Here is a free scan and removal tool from Webroot. I can't vouch for the usefulness of this particular tool, but I use Webroot's Spy Sweeper, which is the best spyware program I've tried (over Ad-Aware SE Professional).

i tired the semantic removal tool. And yet my Vscan still gets disabled. And I still have to wait like 5min till I can start using my pc after a boot up. Symantic said it got rid of it...but eh....

    this sucks.

No kidding. I use a Linksys router that also acts as a firewall. You can pick them up for $50 or so.
