I'm hosting Thanksgiving (first time) for about 10 people. Trying to figure out how big of a bird I need to fry. 12 pounder big enough?
Will everybody be eating turkey and is it going to be the only meat available? Everywhere I go there is always somebody who does not eat turkey and at least has a ham cooked too.
Sorry for the triple post: http://www.butterball.com/tips-how-tos/tips/calculators-and-conversions There are calculators there (on the right) that will assist you on selecting how big of a turkey you actually need.
Popeye's is no longer doing fried turkeys. Where can I get one? No I am not willing to do it myself. Thanks. EDIT: Popeyes used to let you pick it up TG Day, any place that still lets you do that?
I have noticed they started selling turkey fryers that you can use inside your house. Has anybody tried one?
I've got one and a traditional one. I plan to use the electric one this year. I'll tell you how it goes.
Just order a Greenburg Turkey. They are awesome... ready to eat when they show up and the best smoked turkey you'll ever have... I love the pepper spice they rub on the white meat. We've had one every year since I was a kid. Anyway, here's their recommendations: http://www.gobblegobble.com/how.php
good site...I'm going shopping tonight...I'll probably do the turkey in a bag method again...well, only because it comes in a pair and I used the other one two years ago...it came out good, juicy and flavorful... I'll be serving turkey & ham, cornbread dressing, green bean corn caserole, mashed potatoes and that's about it...can't wait, i love to cook...I'm having about 7 adults and 3 kids, so I'm getting a 12 pounder, but I won't have much leftovers, which is what I want, so that's why I'm getting the ham...
Anybody ever have Turducken?? How was it? http://www.hebertsspecialtymeats.co...efault.aspx?SortField=ProductName,ProductName
