Today, our outsourced IT guy came by and set my computer up so that I am now connected to the office server. I have to log on to my computer now and I can pull files from the server etc. Anyways, when I open Firefox, no webpage loads, the screen is just empty. I can't click on anything except for the download updates button. I can't type anything into the address bar and I can't get anything to happen when I click the other buttons or when click on "file". I tried reinstalling, and then I uninstalled and reinstalled. I don't know what to do. Longing for Firefox in Houston
Wait a minute... wait a minute... your firefox doesn't work but you can get to ClutchFans.net??? AWESOME!
You know what's funny is that I had firefox open and the bbs up. Before he sat down to work he goes "you use firefox, that's what I use."
I have the same problem as Oski...I downloaded the new update, but firefox will not load, even though my internet connection works. Firefox is working on my wife's computer, which is networked. Could this issue be related to using the activex plug-in so I could listen to 610 streaming? Anybody know anything about this?
BMoney - Which update did you do, 1.05 or 1.06? 1.05 had some problems with extensions, you might need 1.06. Oski -- did he set you up to go through a proxy server? You could check that from IE->tools->options->connection
It starts up, but does not load webpages. Internet Explorer is running. Kind of bizzare. I removed 1.06 and reinstalled it and it is still not working. Would it matter if I went to system restore to and reverted to the settings of a week ago?
I'd try firefox safe mode -- it'll start without your extensions, so you can see if that's it: Go to Start -> Run and type this: C:\Program Files\Mozilla Firefox\firefox.exe" -safe-mode
1.06 came out because 1.05 had a few problems with extensions. 1.2 or whatever the next release is going to be called should be out soon-ish. Probably still a while, but it's on the forseeable horizon.
I'd delete and reinstall with an older version of Firefox. Sometimes if you have too many extentions, then its outdatedness will do something to the newer Firefox version. I can't clarify on what it does....
In IE do this: Tools -> Internet Options -> Connections -> Lan Settings Check to see if IE is configured to connect through a proxy. If it is, you will need to change your Firefox settings to be identical. If IE is not configured to connect through a proxy, try this... On your windows desktop, do this: right-click -> New ->Shortcut Set the target to be http://bbs.clutchfans.net. When you've finished that, start Firefox. Drag the shortcut to the Clutch bbs onto Firefox. If the page loads, you know that the Firefox problem is not with Firefox's internet connection settings, but lies somewhere else.
Thanks for your help, folks...I saved my profile, deleted all firefox applications and reinstalled and everything seems to be ok. I have a feeling that installing activex to listen to 610 streaming might have contributed to this, but who knows. Thanks for your help, Vengence and Invisable Fan.
[RodneyVoice] Hey, I tell ya, I get no respect at all. Yesterday, a girl calls me and says, "Come on over - there's nobody home." I went over. There was nobody home. [/RodneyVoice]
