This probably is an interesting time to choose to ask for help, seeing as the houstunnin thread might have killed some goodwill around here, but it was also great to see people express genuine concern. That made me decide to ask you all for some help for a good cause.

My friends at UT Houston Medical School are raising money to build a secondary school in Mgaraganza, Tanzania. Primary school in Tanzania is free, but secondary school is often too expensive for families to manage, so this organization is dedicated towards improving this community by the construction of Mgaraganza Village’s first ever secondary school along with scholarships for high school. The medical school class is trying to raise $5,000 towards building the school and has raised $1,257 so far.

I want to emphasize that since this is a small organization, 100% of the money donated will go DIRECTLY towards constructing a secondary school in the village "and the results are immediately palpable." For more information on the organization and how to donate, please check out http://projectwezesha.tumblr.com/

Also, please feel free to spread the word through facebook, twitter, smoke signals, sky writing, and any other forms of communication to friends and family. The link a final time is http://projectwezesha.tumblr.com/

Thanks guys, and if you have any questions, feel free to ask and I'll do my best to answer them. If the goal is reached, I'll be sure to provide updates and post photos.

Good cause. Bad time to ask for money. People are still weary and skeptical from the houstunnin debacle, or they feel like they've already done their "good deed" for the week and aren't in a hurry to donate again.

This is my classes project!!! I was just about to post a thread about this. This is without a doubt a 100% authentic cause, any help that you guys could provide whether monetary or by just spreading the word would be amazing. Finishing this school can change the lives of these kids and that community forever. I'd be happy to answer any questions anybody has.

You guys are AWESOME! If anybody is interested we will also be holding a silent auction at the medical school Thursday 19th from 530 to 7 on the 5th floor. Auction items include Texans game tickets, symphony tickets, hand-crafted pens, opera tickets, student artwork, electronics, etc etc.

Plus you can hang out with some hot med student girls, come get yourself a sugar-mama fellas.

Every class picks a charity/project they hope to complete before their second year is finished. We had about 10 people make presentations about different charities but this one stuck out the most. Giving to the red cross or ronald mcdonald house is all well and good but is for all intensive purposes a drop in the bucket. THIS on the other hand can have a lasting, life altering effect on those children and that culture. No advances can be made without education and we have the opportunity to give that to them.

I will wing-man for both of you if you come participate in the auction. Do you know how quick a chicks heart will melt when you show up with the "Yeah, I heard about the cause, and I just couldn't say no"
