In a nut shell - after 3 years without one, finally stopped foolishly wasting money at the bars and put it to something better ....a computer. (ok, not all entirely true, still hittin the bar scene) When I last had a computer, downloading music form Kazaa was the fad. Where can I get my fix safely now? Ive the following: A. P2P is the Past, its all about torrents now. B. Bit Torrent, Bit Tornado, UTorrent ...are these good or should I stay away... C. Been told I would probably want to install something called "Peer Block" whihc would prevent me from being caught downloading movies, which quite honestly I wont be doing anyways. Only downloading music ...thats it. MOST IMPORTANT: I'm looking for a place with a wealth of music, both new & old. For instance, one song Im looking for: "Come Clean" by Jeru the Damaja mixed with "Channel One Suite" by Cinematic Orchestra. I believe the mixing was done by DJ Food. But I have never been able to find this track, years ago. I aim to resume my search, once Ive downloaded the right program. (BTW-If anyone has this, I'd greatly appreciate it if you could email it to me) Any info much appreciated.
My view is that you should not steal music by downloading illegally. You should pay for it by using Amazon, iTunes, emusic or some other reputable site.
Seriously? Are you asking to get someone's work for yourself and not pay for it? Not cool. Go to GrooveShark.com or Pandora.com and search for it... but it better cost you...
Torrents are peer-to-peer. uTorrent is the winner. I used PeerGuardian2 for a long time. It has an updated list of IP's that you should block should they try to connect to you and blocks them for you. Uhh, Google? For more information on piracy, see: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/The_Pirate_Bay
Peer Guardian is worthless, it just makes people feel a little bit more safe while stealing. Total placebo for your downloading. The record companies have quit going after individuals anyways and are now working with ISP's to limit bandwidth, which is why Comcast has a 250GB limit per month. Others are set to follow soon. Utorrent is the most popular client that all sites prefer. One thing you might wanna Google is "Port Forwarding". It will teach you how to open a port for much faster downloads and uploads.
REEKO_HTOWN, TSchmal, & Longhorn Fan: Thanks for the info... Swoly & Bobrek - First off, becuase of my iPhone, I am a frequent user of iTunes and will continue to do so because the convenience of being able to do so on-the-go. I am mainly looking into this as a secondary option for tracks & remixes I cant find on iTunes and Amazon.
theres numerous Youtube to mp3 websites that convert youtube video files to downloadable mp3...128kbps too
Sean, that really could help too. Some of the hard to find mixes I have actually found on YouTube. Gonna Google this but can you recommend a site? Thanks!
The record companies have quit going after individuals anyways and are now working with ISP's to limit bandwidth, which is why Comcast has a 250GB limit per month. 250 Gb a month? That is like limiting someone to about 5,000 full CDs a month. The record companies Plan B is in need of a little work.
Yeah, but that includes streaming movies, gaming, surfing, Youtube, etc. It's not just for illegal downloads.
Use btmon.com for downloads. They usually download fast and never seem to have problems. But since there is so much distaste for illegal downloading and what I've seen happened to rezdawg, I feel I'm legally obligated to say.... I do no believe in doing anything illegal nor do I endorse it. Just passing on knowledge and cannot be tried or prosecuted due to it.
