My internet seems to really have slowed down lately. I've been using Firefox, so I was thinking maybe something was wrong there. But I'm having the same problem with Safari and Explorer.

I use Time Warner. I did a speed test and it said I had "insane" speed. If that's the case, why does everything seem to take so long to load? I also ran a virus check using Virex and nothing showed up

    Any ideas?

I've been having some similar problems recently with Roadrunner. I doubt it is Firefox. You might want to consider restarting your modem and/or router. Unplug them from both the ethernet AND the power. Leave them off at least 15 seconds and then restart them. Restart the computer at the same time. That has helped me.

Yeah, it's probably your Roadrunner rather then your PC, when it gets sluggish restart your cable router. You can also tweak Firefox a bit to make it load pages up to 4 times faster...

Despite your sarcasm I'm sure you realize that it is an issue with the cable and not the computer...

I do have a Dell. It served it's purpose. I use it mostly to play games though...which isn't often.

maybe...why would he put "question for MAC users" in the thread title, hmmmmmmmmmmmmmmm...Could it be that for that one tiny, microscopic split second, he questioned the integrity of his immortal macintosh?

Mulder, I think it's time you finally realized the truth. Apple has put tiny devices in all of their computers that emit an undectetable yet powerful form of mind control radiation that forces mac users to believe that macs are the greatest things in the world, no matter how poorly they operate. Then, when he finally has enough soldiers in his mac army, he will flip his ultimate mind control master switch, at which time his mac army will go on a path of mindless destruction to thier ultimate goal, a massive, bloody domination of the corporate headquarters of.......

    ....Apple Computer Corporation...

...why Apple? Why not Apple's nemesis, Microsoft? Well, the people who developed this mind altering device, the device that Steve Jobs thought would bring him complete control of the home computer market, are actually employees of the one, the only...

The real genius behind world domination, Mr. William Gates III

Then, after Apple is destroyed, after every last bloody corpse from Apple is burned, ole' Billy boy will flip on HIS mind control device, forcing all the former mac users to buy computers equipped with Windows. So, Mulder, it's only a matter of time. Do you want to become a Windows user the easy way...or the hard way?

    How's THAT for an X-Files episode? :D

    It certainly sped things up...thanks!

Jeff, I also unplugged/replugged my modem...I think that helped as well.

Here's a new question for you Mac users:

Lately I've been getting this grey box that pops up and says "You must shut down your computer". It's written in several different languages. And it has to be a hard shut down.

I have no idea why this has started. It did seem to start after I downloaded an anti-virus scanner from the .mac site. I've since deleted that.

    Any ideas?

Faos Faos Faos...What have you been downloading man??!!:)

Which mac are you using? To my experience, it could be a problem with your ram module(incompatibility issue here).

    Did you just get it?

    I got a Mac problem.

Anyone know of a way I can translate old-ass MacPaint drawings into something a modern day PC can read?

It's a refurbed G5 that I bought from Apple about 10 months ago. This is the first time this problem has cropped up and it only seemed to happen after I downloaded Macs virus scanner.

You could try resetting the PRAM (press Command+Option+P+R) upon start up then do a diagnostics (Apple hardware check on disc 2)
