a friend of mine needs his lawn maintenanced monthly. he has an acre of land, and a very nice house in a good neigborhood. he needs the lawn mowed, hedges trimmed, edges done, perimeter bed maintained. he wants is done twice a month. I'm just starting off a lawncare biz, and want to give him a bid on it. what do you guys feel is a reasonable bid for this maintenance?
we have mexicans mowing our lawn, and edging it for 25$. We have a corner lot, and half an acre. Theres 4 people working it too so they finish in 15-20 minutes. You should charge 50 for an acre...
To have it done correctly it will cost about $200.00 a month depending on the flowerbeds and the type of mower that will be used...
thx guys. went to see job. is a larger job than the responses I've received so far here. the yards about 3/4 acre but about 10 yards of beds to mulch & maintain.
I seriously doubt your "friend" has the capital necessary to keep a consistently well-manicured lawn.
I'd charge at least $100 each time. If he won't go for it, tell him to pay his kids $5 each and make them do it. It's a good life lesson and will prepare them early for the inevitable disgruntledness of being screwed in the working world.
The price for mowing, edging, blowing cuttings per lawn in the Dallas area is $22-$28 for the front and backyard. This is for "standard" lot sizes (much less than an acre - probably around 1/4 acre and less). This cost usually doesn't cover hedges being trimmed or lawn bed maintenance - it's just for straight mowing. Mulch being added to a bed is usually a one-time charge at $x per bag of mulch needed. Maintenance of the beds like weeding is another add-on. I know outfits here that for standard-sized lots will charge $100-$140/month to do mowing, blowing, edging, bed maintenance, hedge trimming "as-needed" yearly which amounts to weekly during the spring and summer months and less during the winter and fall. This doesn't include laying mulch, fertilizer, etc.
