Hey guys.. I'm a Houstonian yet I still don't really know what's all out there. I'm particularly looking for some place to eat that can be called "romantic". Im thinking about settling on going to the Spindletop at the Hyatt in downtown.. anyone who has been there have any comments? How much was the average meal? And was there any trouble parking? This is supposed to be a semi-suprise kind of thing so im trying to be smooth as possible and I know Downtown can kill smoothness in a snap. Where should I park? Any other good restaraunts you can suggest? We've been to Brio's (Woodlands), Fogo De Chao, all the Papas, Chili's, Bennigans, Fridays, basically almost every average restaurant. Also, does anyone have any other non-food related suggestions to hang out at besides.. Bowling Movies Entertainment complex (D&Bs, Main Event, Jillians, etc..) Anywhere from Houston to conroe will be fine. Thanks a lot!! Go Rockets
citysearch is your friend michelangelo's restaurant on westhiemer is romantic, nice set up, easy to find, guy playing piano...very nice. http://houston.citysearch.com/profi...ulink=search_2_searchslot1_520__0_profile_2_1[/URL]
Damian's (Downtown) Killer upscale Italian restaurant. Great food and great service. Nice and quiet and fairly romantic, although not as romantic as Rainbow Lodge and Colombe D'Or.
Might try looking into the Skyline Grill at the Hilton Americas. Has the best view in the city, but I've never ate there, so I don't know how the food is. Plus if you get on hotwire you can get a room for 80 bucks a night
I haven't lived in Houston for a few years, but.. Cafe Annie is really good, food-wise, but is quite expensive. Mark's (on Westheimer) is pretty good also. Churrasco's/America's are good. America's is usually kind of loud inside though. For entertainment, museums, but I get the feeling you're looking at a time when they will be closed. Are Bars "non-food related"? What about theatre or live music? I'm sure you can get live music suggestions from many people on the bbs.
The Clutch City and DOUBLE CLUTCH Championship Anniversaries are coming up. Is this what you're going to celebrate? I'd say any place in NEW YORK or ORLANDO will be good.
You could skip the downtown traffic and do the GALLERIA stuff, take her to a good restaurant on Westheimer area like The Palm, Papa Brothers Steak, and take her ice skateing at the Galleria, grab some desert and drinks at the Chessecake Factory then walk to the waterwall and jump in one of them cheesy pony rides.. I dont know your age, but it could work..
BTW, this place is really good to see what other people think of restaurants around Houston.. http://www.b4-u-eat.com/
I agree with this...I would also recommend Brennan's, right down the street...Very good food and very romantic... As for things to do, I would suggest that after a good meal, go to the Whisky Bar in Hotel Icon off of Main street downtown...A cozy place to have drinks and talk...
Ive been real curious about the pony rides.. do you have any experience with them? cost? location? Thanks everyone for wonderful suggestions, keep them comming as it's not til this weekend
I know on the weekend after dark they are around the waterwall next to what used to be called the "Transco Tower" not sure what it's called now, but they are about 15.00 to go around the block and last about 20 mins.. Not a bad deal and the woman said she liked it, I thought it OK, but I call them cheesy because I never can get that Seinfeld ep. out of my head with Cramer and the horse that had the bad gas.. Overall I would do it again..
Word of advice: No matter how everything goes both good or bad, don't tell your significant other you got the ideas from a Rocket's message board...........
Why do you say "take her"? When did MrRolo say it was a "SHE"??? (that one was all mine, dudes ) EDIT: How do we know MrRolo is NOT a MsRolo?
Go with rubytuesday's suggestion, Michelangelo's is the way to go. I took my girl there for our anniversary. Its very antique inside with a niece quiet atmosphere, and she loved it. They usually play soft music on the piano, the service is excellet, and the food is out of this world (get the "pasta mista" it gives you a little bit of everything: chicken parmesan, alfredo noodles, lasagna, and a caneloni for about 13 bucks each). They only have vallet parking thought, but that kind of makes it smooth and easy for you. I believe its the italian restaurant thats been open the longest (since the late 60's/ early 70's).
