Hey guys, I need some help. I've gotta plan a group outing for my coworkers, but I must do it during company hours on a weekday. If it's not done then, attendance would be low. I want to do something that will encourage interaction, but that will also be fun. Do you guys have any idea.

So far what I have come up with is Lunch/Bowling or a trip to Dave and Busters. ANY ideas would be appreciated. Thanks.

Is there any other purpose besides interaction? How close is the group? Age range? How many of ya'll?

You can do volunteer stuff like cleaning up a plot of land, helping out elders or helping the evacuees. I'm sure there are sites for these things (United Way or something) but I don't know them.

Or an Astros game since I know they have some in the afternoon for the business folks.

Seems like someone asked this about a year ago. I think a trip to a dog or horse track was the big winner.

If it was summer and you weren't in Houston, I would say do what we used to do at UT-Austin and go tubing on the river for a day. Every year, we went to Prince Solms Park in New Braunfels and just went down the tube chute over and over all day. It's fun when you have 15 people making a train going backwards. :)

We just want to build boost morale. Its about 20 people and the majority are in their Mid 20's to mid 30's with about 3 people in the 40's to 50's range. We want to do something fun, since we are bored overworked accountants. While the volunteering idea would be noble, we need to have a good time. I actually looked into an Astros game, but their are no more day games this year.

Paintballing makes for a great team outing. It allows a lot of interaction and provides plenty of opportunity for people to work as a team.

If you can't get out that far you could always try Laser Tag as well.

I had a boss take our group to Dave and Busters a couple years back, was a good time. Are you planning to have alcohol as an option?

Unfortunately not. It would make for a better time and loosen some people up, but some of the people will actually need to come back to work afterwards.

I still want to say that Paintballing is a better option. There generally isn't a whole lot of strategizing in Laser Tag. In Paintball, you get a look at the terrain and organize into smaller units and coordinate with other units. If you do it right, it's actually very much like a military operation.

Add that to being outdoors (come on, you're probably working indoors as an accountant and wouldn't it be fun to be outside for a change?) and the added reward of a more complex game, I think it's a way better team outing than Laser Tag.
