I have a Word document that has some hyperlinked material. The linked file is stored on our network drive at work. When I (or anyone else) goes directly to the Word document, the links work....they point to the file on the network. But when I email the document to someone, the links cannot be opened...they point to the "My Documents" folder of the user trying to open them.

I have a meeting to go to....discuss amongst yourselves. I expect an answer when I get back.

Do the people you are emailing it to have access to that network drive?

Upload the file online and update the links in the original document so it can be viewed from anywhere with an internet connection.

    Yes

    File is too big.

This is a sensitive document. No way I would be allowed to do that.

If the other people have access to the network drive, couldn't you just tell them where it is located?

Do you have the entire path name in the hyperlink? If you don't, it will treat it as a relative link, which would get all screwy if the file exists in a different place from where it was started.

    Aahh...now we're getting somewhere.

I'm home now, but this sounds like it could be the issue. I'll check tomorrow. Thanks.
