Hey look there is another thread about this on the front page! mlwoo, you are so dumb and prole! Man, I hate you!!! I posted this in the other thread and I felt like it was getting drowned. This is something I want to do in the next couple of days, so I started this to hopefully get some quicker responses. Thanks. ______________________________________________ A wealthy coworker who knows nothing about home entertainment systems recently asked me to build his for him. I get to spend someone else's money and he's paying me to do something that turns me on a little. He has a Samsung 40 inch already mounted in a bookcase with comcast HD cable. It has two HDMI slots. He wants something that will play his music, DVDs, a blu ray disc player and surround sound. I have recommended a PS3 for the blu ray/DVD player. I am a novice at surround sound. I know nothing about receivers or the speakers. He wants wireless for the back speakers. If the receiver had a cd changer and an AM/FM dial, that would be great. It is for his living room and would say he will be sitting 10 feet from the tv. The room is medium size. What brand/type of receivershould I get that is comaptible with wired and wirelss speakers. What kind of wired/wireless speakers should I get? What is a good remote to control all of this stuff? Can a uni remote control a PS3? If you think of anything I am missing, let me know.
you're getting out of hand prole-boy. one thread is enough. It would seem to me there are plenty of AV morsels in that thread.
PS3 remote control support blows. It's freaking bluetooth. It's pretty much guaranteed that you have to use the PS3 remote. I was so mad when I brought it home and found that out.
Read this, ml: http://www.remotecentral.com/articles/ps3-ir-remote.htm . It's a solution that might get you by if you can get the universal remote to understand the old PS2's remconterol. How much mlwood wood a mlwoodchuck chuck if an mlwoodchuck could chuck mlwood? I s'pose you could SHARE that coworker's WEALTH, no?
So......A wealthy co-worker is paying you to build his home entertainment system, because he feels that you are knowledgeable in this area, and.......the only idea of your own is for him to get a PS3!!!!! Technical. Wizard.
I knew my cf crew would get my back. Plus homeboy knows nothing at all. I know tvs and blu ray players. I've never had surround sound or anything because I couldn't afford it.
mlwoo He might be rich, but there still needs to be a price point. You can blow through $10,000 on any particular component or speaker so there needs to be a range to shoot for.
http://store.epiksubwoofers.com/ProductDetails.asp?ProductCode=60 $550 Epik Valor subwoofer $299 Pioneer VSX-90TXV Elite http://www.vanns.com/shop/servlet/item/features/538649660?v_c=CPpioneer072408 http://www.amazon.com/dp/B0011YZ018?smid=ATVPDKIKX0DER&tag=cnet-ce-20&linkCode=asn Klipsch Quintet SL Home Theater System $800 I just spent your PS3 budget!
If you need to squeeze that budget, swap in this Dayton 12" sub for the Epik http://www.partsexpress.com/pe/showdetl.cfm?&Partnumber=300-635 $150
Is this a good deal? http://www.bestbuy.com/site/olspage...0050000&type=product&childSku=8734578&count=3 I read the Kilpsch speakers are a great way to go.
It's ok. The receiver from Vann's is better, the speaker setup in my other post is much better (floor standing fronts, so you don't have to buy speaker stands) and I found it for $590 shipped http://www.amazon.com/gp/offer-list...?ie=UTF8&s=electronics&qid=1219491718&sr=1-17 If you're weary of the Dayton sub, you can get a Velodyne VX-10 for 170 shipped here That comes out to $1060 for what is, imo, a much better package. I hope you noticed that Best Buy deal has a $90 dollar shipping charge, and you'll probably pay tax on top of that. Buy the receiver and sub from Vanns, and pick up that Klipsch speaker package off of the Amazon site (arizonatech).
