Is this trade possible?? Cato & Cat (maybe Moochie as throw-in) for Allan Houston and Kurt Thomas. Let me know...and Merry Christmas!!
no wayyy Houston has a BIG contract not worth it at all & no i dont think its possible becuase K. Thomas and Houston make wayyy more than Cato & Cat put together, though i dont know the #s becuase im not a "Cap-ologiest" im sure other people on this board can answer it with #s to back it up though
houston and thomas together make about what 19-23 million together. we have to get big time cap fillers. or we have to ask the knicks to pay some of the contract of houston houston/thomas/eat some of houston's contract/ward for cato/mobes/mooch/ameachi not franchise/ward/wilks houston/pike jj/pike/boki thomas/taylor/padgett yao/taylor
For future reference, if you want to try to make a trade using matching salaries, you first need to try and discover the salaries of the players. You can usually find this by searching google entering, say "Allen Houston + contract". You can also sometimes find this information on RealGM ( http://www.realgm.com ), under player profiles. If you just thow a wild guess at the trade checker, it will come back at you with a list of the proportionate salaries of the players for the teams in question. There's also Patrica Bender's website, which is now slightly out of date, but gets you some general ideas. http://www.dfw.net/~patricia/ . When you get a picture of the salaries and contracts involved, you can try different combinations with the trade checker. ============ I would guess you are trying to replace our backup center/ emergency power forward Cato with a starting quality power forward/emergency center Kurt Thomas. Good move. You can find another player on New York to make the salaries work. The Allen Houston for Cuttino swap is unecessary and does not work, you will quickly discover if you check. If your goal is to exchange Cat for a spot up shooter, regardless of contract, that is understandable. However, this choice is flawed. Allen Houston also has bad knees and a bad back, and is not consistant. NY would be happy to move him. I have been very hard on the Cat in the past, because I've seem him do dumb things and not play very well with Yao. I'd have to say though, that he is certainly playing better this year. In fact, he usually leads the team in victory or defeat. If I could exchange his talents of quickness, crossovers and threes, though, I'd try to trade them for a smarter passing player that could spread the floor with a deadly eye and sharp, quick release. I think we'd go farther that way.
