I really don't buy CD's anymore, but am looking for a particular genre style of music. Unfortunately for me, it's no longer like it was back in the early 90's where I'd live at the Record Rack over on South Shepherd looking for some new group or cut that just blew me away. I really don't have time for that and, well, I'm not in Houston anymore. About the only contemporary music I listen to is hip hop/R&B on the radio and various stuff on XM. I love cranking the stereo on long drives and I love high bpm's, and I want to get more music similar to the following groups : Headrillaz Chemical Brothers Prodigy Can anybody give me names of artists similar to these out now or within the past decade? I love hard-hitting bass in the background accompanied by fast beats. I'm about to purchase a new sub for my house that should drive my neighbors to have me arrested.
Agree on Underworld. They're similar to the bands you listed but much better IMO. One of my favorite groups.
Orbital Moby (up to "Play") Fatboy Slim Leftfield ("Leftism" is probably the greatest electronica album ever) The KLF's "White Room" Fluke's "Risotto" Then there is trance and drum 'n' bass. On trance, get "Tranceport" by Paul Oakenfold and "Out There and Back" by Paul Van Dyk. On drum 'n' bass, get Aphrodite's self-titled CD if you can find it as well as Goldie's "Timeless". And although mc mark has already mentioned Massive Attack, make sure you get "Blue Lines" and "Mezzanine" - 2 CDs of theirs with lots of bass to them.
BTW, DoD, you might find this list helpful: http://www.amazon.com/exec/obidos/t...MTU/ref=cm_aya_av.lm_more/103-3071764-1259820
Parody? Show me how that poster is FUNNY. Or, just see what the word PARODY means... heck I will even show you: parody (n) A literary or artistic work that imitates the characteristic style of an author or a work for comic effect or ridicule. I mean, that poster is not a PARODY... not even funny. MadMax?
Wow, I can't believe I couldn't think of some of those you guys named. I used to KMFDM all the time, and I love Crystal Method and Massive Attack. Manny, KLF's "White Room" is one of my favorite CD's of all time, and I have a couple of Fluke CD's. I've never been a big Moby fan, though. I'll check out Underworld when I get home, Dr. Thanks for the help guys.
Some reccomended Underworld tracks for new listeners to check out: Cowgirl Bruce Lee Push Upstairs Moaner Born Slippy Rez Jumbo Pearl's Girl Two Months Off Also, if you like Massive Attack you might also like Sneaker Pimps, Portishead, and Tricky just to name a few.
That's not a parody, that is a rip off...ESPECIALLY that logo in the upper right hand corner. Playstation and Rockstar could sue them and win easily...
DoD, Forgot about these artists: Front Line Assembly aka FLA - very similar to KMFDM, industrial and techno Delerium - the same guys who are FLA have this project as well - very similar to Enigma (another act to look into listening to) Vangelis - especially the 1492 Soundtrack as well as the Blade Runner Soundtrack (not much bass but synth lines galore) VNV Nation - these guys are a hybrid of industrial and techno and I think are phenomenal EDIT - Another Enigma sounding like album is "The Songs of Distant Earth" by Mike Oldfield.
I think you really need to check out Kasabian. They're a relatively new band from England. They're more or less a blend of electronic and rock. I think they've got some totally bad-ass beats.
