I was driving my cousin's 2007 Mercedes Benz S430 and I nicked the side mirror on the garage while pulling in. The garage is somewhat narrow relative to the wideness of the S430, but usually there are no problems parking the car. You just have to pay attention and be careful. That was my mistake. Right as I was pulling in and aligning the car into the garage, my phone began to rang and being stupid as in certain moments I can be, I picked up. I was distracted and carelessly nicked the side of the passenger side mirror. I heard a click and immediately knew what happened. I went out to check on it and there were no scratches or cracks. However, the side mirror is slightly lose, enough that you can wobble it with your hand or if you slam the door real hard. Anybody familiar with Mercedes Benz's? Unlike my old Honda, the mirror doesn't "collapse" and I couldn't just "pop" it back into place. Is there any way to fix this without getting it done professionally? The car is leased and it seems like a minor problem that the Mercedes dealership will charge an arm and a leg for. Please help, anybody who has a good idea.
My mom has a Mercedes and one time she went to Home Depot for shopping. When she came back after 30 minutes, someone had stolen both of the side mirrors. (I think the turning signals on the mirrors have some extra retail value or people can put them on other cars or something.) Anyways, to replace both side mirrors it cost 2K. As an aside, Mercedes is a joke of a company. Alot of the cars are unreliable and you don't get nearly enough value for what you pay for. All you are paying for is brand name.
There should be an interior trim panel that covers the mirror mounting area. Take it off and see if you can tighten the mirror.
