I am looking for a computer for my parents which comes with a flat (LCD) screen (to save desk space) for around $700. It does not have to do anything special as they mainly use it for word processing, internet, email, photos and such. Anybody have any suggestions, I would appreciate it as I am getting tired of endless searches.

    Thanks!

Yeah, but RAM is not expensive anymore....easy to upgrade yourself.

Or you can upgrade through Dell's costomization link for that pc deal.

Don't get fooled by the specifications. What is the FBS of the 3Ghz CPU? What is the PC speed for the 256MB memory stick? What is the RPM for the 40GB hard drive? Those are all important things that could make a huge difference on the performance of a computer.

but you have to look at what it is being used for to make that determination.

for what the original poster calles for...that machine is MORE than powerful enough.

rocketball.....as someone who has put together many machines for ppl such as you describe....the specs on that dell shown is just the ticket for what you want...

I got one real similar to that for my mother in law(70+, email, web only)...adn it has performed perfectly for her needs. no problems whatsoever

For the average user, none of that matters. Only to geeks like us. :)

agreed, but who u callin a geek. :)

Dell is probably gonna give u the best price, unless u build your own PC from the tower up. If you wanna go that route check out:

    www.newegg.com

If you wanna buy a packaged deal comparable to dell check out Frys.

    www.outpost.com

    Hope this helps.
