I'm getting my site designed and programmed. Basically it's going to be a music website about cover songs/performances done and be an online community. Anywho, I'm stuck on my logo. Not sure which one I like more. The one on the left seems to tie in what the site is about more, but the right one has a cleaner look and can be easily place on shirts and other brandings. Also if you have any suggestions on different revisions to take with the logo you like, I'd appreciate it also. 1st one, I think the filter screen should be black with like the grid pattern on it? and maybe black mic? but than the mic can't be seen. 2nd one, I think maybe stars to be in gold lettering, but not sure. Looks clean like how it is also. Also, here is the design of my site so you can see what the logo looks like: thanks guys
wish I can edit, but for the 2nd one, i think the black font is fine but maybe change the red star to gold, if I were to go with that one
2nd one... easier on the eyes... clean... simple... but... it doesn't work at all with that web layout shown above.
Use them both, but if you are going to do T-shirts or sell items etc, the cleaner and fewer number of colors the easier and cheaper to manufacture. DD
I would, but I don't want different logo concepts confusing people. Also with 1 logo, it's easier to remember and recall. I'm leaning more on logo 2 also, but seeing if you guys had any suggestions to improve the look and have it flow with the website more.
2. better/simpler logo making it easier to recognize and remember. might wanna play with color scheme some. the gold someone suggested sounded good. maybe change the color on one of the words cover or stars.
I actually prefer number 1...the 2nd one does not convey very well what it is you are trying to do.... The first one with the mic wire and microphone shows better. If you took out the red background and changed the letters to black along with the cord, I think it would be cleaner overall. But, for me, I would marry the two together to create one uber logo...by that I mean take the mic and cord from number 1, and recreate number 2 using those items...... That is what I would do, but this is YOUR baby....so, whatever you decide, I hope you do GREAT....it is an interesting idea. BTW - the star in the 2nd one looks very Dr. Seusish....with the star belly creatures...IMO. DD
When I'm designing logos, I like to make sure that the design lends itself to filling a horizontal rectangular space as well as a square space. I also prefer not to use any drop shadows, gradients, or other effects. Taking that into consideration, I definitely like 3b better. As is, it fills a nice horizontal space, but it's also ready to be put in a square space by dropping the text. This is necessary for icons like you see for facebook and twitter. I also wouldn't concern myself too much with whether or not the logo is depicting exactly what the site is about, as long as it is simple and recognizable. You'll notice that many big successful companies and websites, don't have logos that tell you anything about what they offer. That said, I know immediately when looking at 3b that the site has something to do with music, so that's a plus. As for the site itself, I think the layout is generally good. I'm thinking it could be a little less crowded though...spread things out and use a touch more negative white space between different elements. Another thing is that the background is a little overwhelming, and I think it's because there's too much of it showing at the top of the screen. Plus, having the site that far down is going to push some important content below the fold, which isn't considered as a cardinal sin anymore (it's been proven that people will scroll), but you should still avoid doing it if possible. So in short, go with logo 3b, bring the site's main content up a little higher, and maybe widen the layout to free up some more white space. It's a good start though. Neat concept too.
@clutchcityreturns Great feedback, I was hoping someone in here would be a designer. Definitely the site will be a bit wider, it was just a photoshop image of what the site will ultimately look like. I will be getting rid of the menu, so the content will be pushed up higher, also the advertisement banner of course won't be that big. I definitely agree on the scrolling comment and want to have the least amount possible. I do like the simplicity of the second, and think I'll change the star color to be gold/yellow to tie up into the color scheme of the site more. However, the 1st one, I believe if I change the font to the 2nd one, it will look much better. I'll request that, but definitely leaning to 2nd a lot more now. Once again, thanks for the feedback everyone, and thanks for the compliment of the idea. Hopefully, it'll be a success
3b gold star i'd say somehow highlight the words "cover" and ".tv" instead of stars, because at first glance all I could remember was the star inside the box. That lead me to: "what was it called ... somethingStars ..." - then I scrolled up and realized it wasn't even ".com"
That's a lot of Kings of Leon. Looks like an awesome site. Let us know when you get it up. I'll most likely be frequenting it pretty regularly. And I agree, 2nd one is a lot more memorable.
thanks I hired an indian company from vworkers.com I'm not sure if I would recommend them as it was a headache trying to get everything exactly how I wanted. However, the end result was definitely nice and I am please with the work considering I was almost going to scrape the project because of their incapability to understand what I wanted.
