my gf recently got a car and now trying to get a cd player in it...currently has no kind of radio in it. Ive tried installing it myself but I think there might be a few peices missing and its becoming a tiny bit confusing.

Does anyone know of any places to take a car to install a cd player? Already got the cd player, wires, and sleeve but might be missing some kind of bracket to hold it into place (important?)...

If any has any info that might be useful or a place thats cheap, it would be much appreciated. I think BestBuy prices to install a cd player is somewhere in between $45-$55 which seems to be a little pricey considering its not much I need done. Thanks in advance.

    Go to Best Buy

They sell the kits, that you need to put it in. ($12-15)

Or you can just have them install it. If you bought it from them they normally install it for free.

yea I bought it from them but that was about a year ago. The cd player I want in my gf car was/has been in mine...decided to give her the better one.

Its gotten to a point where I just want the cd player in...so I am willing to take it somewhere but money is scarce.

add her car to the list and you can see what a harness/kit comes with it all the walkthrough paper work and hardware come FREE with any in dash CD player you buy from them...PLUS when it does come in you can call their 800 number and they will walk you through the steps if you need the help.. you would be surprised how easy they are to install...

You'll need a harness for the particular model.

The best way to do it (and the way we put in receivers at my shop) is this:

Solder the ends of matching wires from the harness to your wire bundle in your car.
Use heat-shrinks to insulate rather than rubber tape.
    Easy stuff.

Also, if your car is a GM one or some other kind without a DIN sized receiver (which would fit a regular receiver no problem), you'll need an adapter plate as well so it will fit in your console.

    That should about it cover.

    missing pieces i believe are:
    - the white plug (female end)...all I see inside the dash is just wires.
    - original bracket to hold the cd player inside the car securely. I have the sleeve for the cd player itself but no way to keep the cd player from sliding or better security just in case a thief wants to try to take it.

I have both wiring diagrams so I figured just matching up wires would be easy. Just need a way to keep it in its slot.
