Simply put, we had a staff meeting a couple of weeks ago and everyone was assigned to or chose some kind of "office moral" type of project to partake in. I chose to be in charge of getting some kind of sports league team together (softball, dodgeball, bowling, etc.).

I've got some ideas and have already pinpointed some leagues in particular, but I just wanted to check here and see if anyone had organized anything like this before and maybe had some tips/suggestions. We have around 100 employees, ages 16 to whatever.

If you're looking for a name, "Bus Stop Stalkers" is already taken, unfortunately...

Are you trying to put together a league only for your employees to play in or are you trying to start a team to join a league?

Assuming it's the latter, the best bet for the most participation is going to be co-ed softball. With the amount of employees you have, you might be able to also field a mens team. That always seems to get the most people out. It's not hard to do. Find a league close to where you are. Choose a specific night that you can get the most participation (not Friday or Saturday) and what level and they'll stick you in there. All you really have to do is collect the fees and create a lineup card at each game.

It seems like softball is the popular choice for this kind of thing, but I'd say most of the staff here is middle-aged and about 70% is women. I'm not sure how that would go over. I'm actually leaning toward bowling because that's probably accessible to the widest demographic of anything I could choose. Plus it's not one of those things that a lot of people go out and do on their own even though just about everyone likes it. So far I've gotten a good response about it, just asking around a bit.

My real question is just whether anyone has any suggestions for any good sports league organizations that they've used or heard about. I know there's SportsMonkey, but that's the only one I really know of.
