I got a tape stuck in my cam corder and need to get it repaired by April 1st deperately. I called where I bought it from and they offered to ship it out for a repair with a 4-6 week minimum.

Does anyone know a good place in town that will do repairs? It doesnt seem like to big off a repair but it is not something that I would personally want to mess with.

    Please Help!
I have an event on April 1st that I definately must have this camera by.

    Thanks!

I've taken my camcorder to Pro Audio and Video (over on Richmond) a few times.... they seemed pretty good and were nice people... took awhile to get my camera back but that was because the stupid parts were on backorder from Panasonic...shoulda bought a GL2 but oh well....wen it works it works really well.

I am NOT suggesting you to try this but this was my experience:
I have a Canon ZR60 Mini DV camcorder. When my wife put in the tape 2 days ago, she must have forced it in somehow and it got stuck, the tape holder mechanism could not close. I tried to work it gently for a long while and the motor sounded like it try to close the tape holder but couldn't. As last measure, I pried the thing opened and removed the tape. Now, it's begun to work again.
Disclaimer, try it at your own risk.

I don't see how it could hurt just to at least open the side panel and look at the problem. It should be an easy fix, one not worth paying for. But don't blame me if you really screw it up.

Glad someone started this thread, I had the some question as well.

I bought a Sony Mini DV 6 years ago in Japan. And few weeks ago I forgot to turn it off one night, and now it won't record or play any tape. The buttons still lights up, so I doubt it's power problem.
