At first glance, there aren't too many PFs that are available. As everyone likes Dermarr more and more, it still means we need to improve at PF. I'm going to try and stay away from actual proposals in this thread, here are just some possibilities that could be acquired, with a brief description, and a reason why they could be acquired.

    1. Antonio Davis-A tough customer, has the ability to play center, even though he's only 6'9''. A good enforcer/rebounder who can score a little too, and block some shots. Still has some good years left, at age 32.
Reason for Availability: Unhappy in Toronto situation, and Toronto would rather have a younger big man.

    2. Raef Lafrentz-Center who's better suited as a PF, 3 point shooting range, great shot blocker. Would be a great fit for us as a PF. Not superb, but a solid 14/8 type of guy.
Reason for availability: Denver has no true centers, as Lafrentz isn't tough enough to guard the Shaqs and Zos of the world. They really have 3 PFs, in Lafrentz, Clark, and McDyess, trading for a pick almost certainly signals one of them is gone, and it won't be McDyess.

    3. Keon Clark-Super athletic shot blocking hybrid. Also better as a PF due to wiry frame. Cato minus some weight with more scoring ability and perhaps a good work ethic?
Reason for availability: See Lafrentz. He'd be the obvious choice, as he's the least proven of the 3.

    4. Kurt Thomas-Tough "enforcer", mediocre scorer and rebounder.
    Reason for availability: Free Agent.

    5. Austin Croshere-Will be hard to acquire, 3 point threat, post up threat, hard nosed rebounder, great work ethic.
    Reason for availability: Free Agent.

    6. Jermaine O'Neal-Another super athletic, wiry thin PF. Came out of HS, never has gotten chance to prove himself. Showed enough for Portland to give him a $5 million dollar contract.
Reason for availability: Wants PT, unhappy in Portland.

    7. Brian Grant-Rebounder, with some scoring ability. Injuries are a problem, but he faces the toughest of challenges without complaining.
    Reason for availability: Free agent.

    8. Marcus Camby-Long, lanky shot blocker, former #2 pick. A "super sub" active around the glass for scoring oppurtunity.
Reason for availability: NY is going for a "win now". He has been openly the subject of trades along with A. Houston for Payton, or Hill.

    9. Danny Fortson-Undersized, but a superb rebounder. Oppurtunistic scorer.
    Reason for availability: Free Agent.

    10. Jerome Williams-Another tough rebounder, blue collar type.
Reason for availability: Fallen out of favor in Detroit.

Other possibilities: Keith Van Horn, Othella Harrington, Tom Gugliotta, Horace Grant, Vin Baker, Gary Trent, PJ Brown, Elden Campbell

    Draft Moiso. Trade Moises.

    Trade or bench Kenny Thomas.

Your forgot Othella Harrington. He has fallen out of favor with the Grizzlies and is available. Rudy would love to get him back.

I'd rather stick with teaching KT then move Othella in front of him.

perhaps I should change that to lefties with an even number of inches on their height (Flanders is a solid 8'0'', Moiso is 7'0'', Odom is 6'10'', Rose is 6'8'', Cuttino is 6'4'' etc.)

I would like to get any of those power forwards that you mentioned. I would also be just happy with getting Moiso. Especially after now everyone's saying that he's 7 feet tall. The only knock on him is that he might not have the work ethic... but Cato also didnt seem to have the work ethic, but he's stepping it up over the summer. Maybe this so called lack of effort will disappear once he starts playin in the NBA against some tougher competition.

But if we do choose Dermarr(and I'd be happy with that pick also), then any of those power forwards would be cool.

If Houston signs Croshere, I would rather have him playing SF.

I would like to see Houston move Cato to PF and trade for a center with range (ie Orlando's Doleac).

    C Doleac
    PF Cato
    SF Croshere
    SG Anderson
    PG Francis

Doleac and Croshere would stretch the defense and the Doleac-Cato-Croshere frontline would hold its own against the league.

I had never even considered LaFrentz. But you are right, he does make some sense. He is definitely not a 5, yet he has put up those solid (decent) numbers against the West's elite centers. His numbers could go up a little at the 4, where he will be against people his same size. He has similar game and body as Laettner (who could not cut it at the 5 but saw his nu,bers go up to 18 and 8 at the 4 in Atlanta) without the head problems.

But, would he be a little slow?

Clark doesn't impress me. Unless we could get him for a steal. Same with Kurt Thomas. I wouls much rather have Jerome Williams or Fortson than either of those guys.

Where have you heard that Williams has fallen out of favor? If true, the Pistons are idiots because he is their only solid inside presence.

When it comes to athleticism, Lafrentz is average. He won't hinder us, but don't expect him to be running next to Francis on the breaks, though he can start them (blocks). He's not a McIlvaine in any way.

I'm not sure why Detroit doesn't like Jerome, I think maybe personality differences?
