have any of yall had foundation problems w/ your home?

just recently, ive noticed a wide crack in the mortar on the front of my home. it isnt a long crack but it has me worried. also the attic doors dont close as snuggly as they used to and there are cracks in the joints of the crown moldings in my home. it may be the foundation settling but the house is 4 yrs old now. if it is a problem w/ the foundation, i wanna catch it early.

yall know of any reputable companies that will come out and take a look at my house for free?

    thanks!

Only 4 years old? I'm no specialist but sounds more like settling. Have a home inspector or two come by and look at it; having a foundation company look at it is a fox in the henhouse.

IF it is a foundation problem, most homes come with a 10 year warranty to cover structural type things. So if the home is only 4 years old it might be covered.

yeah the structure is covered except for foundation failure...

at closing you have to sign a form stating something along the lines: "due to the soil conditions in south east texas, foundation failure is not covered under warranty..."

even the house insurance doesnt cover foundation failure bc of the south east texas soil... :(

hopefully isn't a foundation problem, just settling.
fix the cracks, cosmetics and keep an eye on it.

if it is settling you might not have any more problems, for settling try watering the foundation when you are in a extended dry spell.

you can get more info online
