Help: DVD editing software

Nero. Its not free but u can dl a free 30 day trial. Winavi is good too and a smaller program than nero. I believe u can get a free trial of that as well when u dl it.

Whoa. You already have DVD footage digitally stored somewhere else, or you want to CREATE a DVD from MPEGs or AVIs?

I don't think I've ever taken a DVD already made and created a different DVD from it... how will you do that first? If you aren't already doing it so, you can take out chapters or titles alone using DVD Decrypter, then converting the DVD stuff to AVI or MPEG using Super©.

 

Here is an example of why I would want to do that. Every year I create a Christmas video to send out. I want to create a "best of" video. I inadvertantly deleted (or stashed somewhere) the disk based version of the video. I now need to use the DVD to extract various scenes.

Note that I am not asking for assistance in doing this, simply providing one possible scenario.

 

DVDs also contain "normal computer files", they're just in a different format.

What you CAN do, however, is use a combination of software that will allow you to read that specific format or change the format to one that another software or the same one will allow you to manipulate.

Here's a scenario:
A DVD contains VOB files. You have no "vob editor", but using Roxio's suite of programs, you can edit VOB and output to your own MPG or AVI, and then make a DVD out of those compilations.

 

sony vegas is overkill but is really easy to operate. You'll need a dvd ripper, a good free one is isofter. before vegas I would pay up to 300. for a edited 30 video...the software cost me under 100. i'm not that smart and yet it took me a only few hours to get it all figured out.

I was reading a site to upload videos and found this: http://handbrake.fr/?article=details . I haven't tested it, but it takes ANY format of video and makes it ANY format, including VIDEO_TS (*.vob) files.

 

I've used it on my Mac. For the most part it works pretty well, though sometimes the video and audio aren't synced up.
