I will try to be brief with this one:

In short, I have been 'somewhat forced' to resign from my job (after over ten years) and have now been requested to return my laptop, etc. My problem here is that I really need to hold on to the emails over the years.

I recently purchased a 1 terabyte hard drive in order to secure my previous correspondence, not to mention, the details of my previous friends and contacts. Problem is that most of the data is contained within my Lotus Notes mailbox.

As such, I would be very grateful to hear of a way that I can transfer this data to a hard drive so it is not deleted once all is said and done.

I'm very hopeful that my friends here have some ideas. The thought of simply deleting all that I had worked on over ten years and simply hand it over is very tough to swallow.

    Many thanks!

    G

Thanks Bobrek, will definitely look into it. But damn, thought i could do this without too much cash. Just spent 300 on the harddrive. I actually just want to be able to read the emails in the future. Does that change anything?

Try doing some googling. I didn't see anything free that jumped out at me. Is there an export option for contacts that you could put into a CSV file?

I don't know Lotus, but MS Outlook has a file which contains all of yoru email (I think it ends in .pst). You can import an old .pst file into Outlook. Does Lotus have a similar file? MS Outlook has the ability to import from Lotus Organizer so maybe there are extensions to import from Lotus Notes.

Not sure if you've been using the 'archive' feature of Notes, but if you have then you should be able to find the .nsf file (similar to Outlook's .pst) at:

    C:\Program Files\LOTUS\notes\data\archive

Or simply search for *.nsf on your hard drive in case it's plopped elsewhere.

Depending on your version of Notes, you can go ahead and create your archive now by clicking on 'Actions -> Archive -> Archive Now.' This may require going through some steps to set it up.
