Ive looked for previous threads and to no success. Alright looking for a new TV but do not know anything about the differences or the standard these days. Prefer a 42" flat screen. Only have a xbox 360, wii, cable box and maybe a dvd player to hook up to it. Looking to spend $1,000 give or take. Where are the best deals? What are the best brands? and etc... Please help. Thanks in advance.
To get the largest screen size without spending too much, look for LCD/DLP, usually from Mitsubishi and at Connvict's. My brother just bought a 53" DLP with 1080p and integrated HD for about $1100. They are NOT HEAVY, easy to move around the house, and can display your seXbox 360's graphics crisply.
Yea I am not sure that I want to go bigger than the 42" mainly because of space and cost. I know that buying a new TV, I am also looking at the additional costs of a stand, new audio/video cables and tax? My main thing getting a good tv/brand that will not break. This should not be a problem realistically since I do take care of my things. Anyone know anywhere with some good NO INTEREST deals?
Best Buy usually runs interest-free financing deals pretty often. just keep an eye on the sales papers
since you are looking at 42 or 40, if you find a deal on a 720p tv, get it. its not a big difference on that size of a screen. I think this a good deal http://www.bestbuy.com/site/olspage.jsp?skuId=8749376&type=product&id=1202650190227
Spoiler I kid, of course (even though it would be good to get, only $15.) What are you really clueless about: What to buy, or what is HDTV, or what is PLASMA/LCD/DLP/PROJECTION?? Just tell us what confuses you.
You can get the Panasonic 42" plasma TV + Phillips 5.1 home theater + Installation from Best Buy right now for $690 after a $200 rebate. Check out Slick deals below! This is very good deal for a Panasonic Plasma TV! http://www.slickdeals.net/permadeal...hilips-Home-Theater-System---Installation-690
^ 1080p=most overrated feature of all time. nothing is broadcasted in 1080p accurate color black levels correct de-interlacing video processing are more important. I challenge you to see the difference, go to a store and tell them to show you two tvs showing the same source at 42inches, bluray, or anything (one tv has to be 720/1080i and the other 1080p) stand 8 feet away and see if you get the correct tv as being 1080p. http://reviews.cnet.com/4520-6449_7-6361600-1.html
RE: ^ He said he has a seXbox, so I will give you credit for a good response to my concern. Even if NOTHING is broadcast at 1080p yet... wouldn't you at least be ON PAR with the technology whenever it DOES come around? Do you have a BLU-RAY player, tinman? I don't. Right now, I don't have a 1080p TV, but I get AT&T U-verse at 1080i and 720p, and it's good enough. The Olympics look great, and I am hoping to get a PS3 in the next few months. I was hoping I'd have a TV capable of displaying my PS3 nicely, but I'm OK with the one I have. I am in no hurry to get a 1080p just like you say, but it would be nice to have it by the time everyone is broadcasting it. That's just my opinion, though... I could be wrong...?
you'll be waiting forever dude. nobody is gonna switch their broadcasting to 1080p. HDTV standard is 720p/1080i..that's not gonna change last time i checked, there are still WAY MORE standard def channels on cable/satellite. Also look carefully at the products . look at Sony, Samsung, Panasonic, etc.. look at the their LCDs- particularly 32inch and below. notice nearly ALL OF THEM are 720p. You know why? cause you can't tell the difference at that size or even at 42 inches unless you sit 2 feet from your TV. i'll go bluray when it goes 200bucks or lower. if i want to watch some in high def, i jus download it
Instead of worrying about 1080p, they should work on improving the cameras. I've noticed some pretty bad feeds in HD on ESPN, TNT, and especially FSN HD. The olympics look absolutely awesome. I wish all HD was shot like that.
Honestly, I probably am a dummy when it comes to this right now. But I could benefit from knowing all of the above. Differences, best buys, normal rate for such, etc. Anything would be helpful because like I said, when I go to Frys I pretty much stare in amazement considering what I use now. And to tell the truth, I am not sure I am so picky to but the best.... something better than I have now (not hard) - Maybe I will feel different after the fact and when I know a little more but right now I hardly know or could tell a huge difference.
the most dummy proof technology is LCD. the best advice I give to a person who really doesn't care about all the bells and whistles is to make sure you get a decent brand.
