I'm having the hardest time over here. Adobe Acrobat 7.0 is installed on my computer. Problem is, when I open up any PDF file my computer freezes. So I'm trying to uninstall Adobe and I keep getting the .dll error "AcroIEhelper.dll is currently being used by a program. Please close the program and try the removal again" Problem is, I've searched google til Im blue in the face and I can't get rid of AcroIEhelper.dll at ALL. I try to download the new Adobe, but it says it cant delete the old version to replace it with the new version b/c of that very .dll Is there a program out that thatll just wipe an application out without rebooting?
I am not sure about removing acrobat, but I would suggest trying Foxit Reader instead. It's a free PDF viewer that is about 10,000 times faster than Adobe, and you won't have to go through the mess of figuring out this uninstall. If you're set on Adobe though, I might try starting up in Safe Mode, then uninstalling.
Windows XP: Start Menu > All Programs > Accessories > System Tools > System Restore Click on a checkpoint before the installation. Always my lazy way of getting out of things.
thread hijack Anyone know how to add images to a pdf without ponying up the 800 million dollars for acrobat pro?
SHUT UP. Buy the software, you cheapskate. Hey, ToyCen, is it the Reader or the full version? Nonetheless, try downloading the installer and installing manually into ANOTHER directory different than "c:\Program Files\Adobe\Acrobat." Try "c:\Program Files\Adobe\new Acrobat\" and see if that helps.
Hit ctrl-alt-delete and click on processes. See if any acrobat related programs are running (the helper process may be run at startup). Select it/them. Kill it/them. Try to uninstall.
Just make sure the service isnt running (Cntl,Alt, Delete) and End Task on the AcroRd32.exe service and retry to uninstall. Then reinstall. If not, go into safe mode and remove it.
