i hope one of you computer experts can help me out. I recently got a digital video camera and figured out how to transfer a clip of my daughter to the computer. Whats the best format to use to email this 30 sec clip?

i like the quality of .avi but its 14mb...
the .wmv files (windows movie maker) are smaller (0.9mb) but quality is so-so.
.mpeg files are about 8mb so still too big to email...

    any other suggestions?

by the way - before any of you get any wise ideas - my daughter was in a commercial for her elementary school which i need to send to grandparents, aunts, etc....

    thanks in advance....

I think Divx or xVid is what you are looking for.

it will give youa file extension of .avi also...but it compresses much better.

go to doom9.org or dvdrhelp.com to find the freeware tools and guides to do what you need.

it is a little too complicated to go into here.

as long as they have the proper codec.

that same site(dvdrhelp.com) has a link to the various codecs that are available.
just send a link to the codec that you decide to use so they can install it on their machine.

sorry if this seems a pain...but in order to get a small file size sometimes oyu have to go thru some steps.

another option that you may use that might be already supported by your recipient's machine would be wmv(windows video),,I dont use that format..so you might have to do a search at the site I mentioned to get a guide on using it.
