Who do you think will win the thing? Not who you want to win or who you think should win. I'm a Longhorn fan so obviously I want Colt to win. Bradford is equally deserving. I think that Bradford will be the one to go home with the statue. I don't think that Tebow should be up there this year. Harrell got screwed by not being invited to New York at least. I don't like him but he clearly earned his way to make the trip even if he got less than 5% of the vote.
Bradford SHOULD win it, but i'm afraid that voters will give to Mc Coy because of the perception that Texas got screwed out of the title game.
Who I think will win it: Bradford Who I think should win it: McCoy Colt will win it next year if he doesn't this year, so it's no big loss to me.
Perception is reality. That perception alone is why McCoy could win it. It depends on what you think the Heisman should be about. If you consider the Heisman to be an MVP award essentially, then you HAVE to give it to Colt. Look at what he's done for the team and look at his supporting cast and preseason expectations. If the Heisman is just about putting up unbelievable numbers regardless of what you have around you, you give it to Bradford.
Colt should win, I don't care who really does Bradford has better passing #s barely. But bradford only has 60 yards rushing all year. Colt has had an amazing year rushing and passing the ball. Colt blows Bradford out of the water in the rushing game. and Colt blows Tebow out of the water in the passing game.
As long as McCoy or Bradford wins it, I don't think that either guy can really be mad. Bradford played incredibly well the whole year even in the loss to Texas. McCoy played was way tougher than he looks in addition to setting the completion % record with less gifted surrounding players. When I've heard the arguments for both players, I honestly think that Colt deserves it. If I'm a voter and I can't decide between the two, I would factor in the fact that Colt got left out of the championship and he's a year older giving him less chance to get it in the next two years like Bradford. Give it to McCoy. I don't think that enough voters will get past Bradford's numbers and that's why he'll win. Unlike the Big XII south decision, 45-35 means nothing in the Heisman race.
I think Bradford will win it but ESPN seem to be on Tebow's knob for some reason. Tebow's numbers aren't as good as they were last year. About 700 fewer yards passing, 300 fewer yards rushing, and 15 fewer TD's. If they were going to give it to Tebow based on rushing stats that Bradford doesn't have, then they should give it to McCoy instead who has better passing AND rushing stats than Tebow. So I'd give it to McCoy before Tebow. But Bradford has the best QB rating of the 3. He has 1,000 more passing yards than Colt. 1,000 FREAKIN' YARDS! And he has almost 2,000 YARDS than Tebow. He has more TD's than the other candidates too. I think you have to give it to Bradford. The difference in the passing far outweighs the rushing factor of McCoy and Tebow.
Fixed it. All jokes aside, if you're voting on value, Colt is more important to his team than any other player in college football, he has carried an offense more than anyone else. Teabow is not even the best player on his team (Harvin) while Bradford has a very, very talented offense around him and a coach intent on running up the score, a good recipe for stats. You can't go wrong with either three, but Colt deserves it most.
OU did play one extra game, so that's 400 yards right there. Also, as many have pointed out, the Sooners were not very subtle about the whole "60 points/style points" thing. Bradford was in for much of the fourth quarter in blowouts padding stats and running up the score. I don't think this award is purely about stats anyway (where's Harrell?)
They were hypothesizing on Mike & Mike that the vote totals for Harrell might have been so low that when compared to the other 3 that they may have thought it would be embarrassing for him if they revealed the vote totals with him on the list. Greeny thought it might look like this (random numbers): McCoy: 9,000 Bradford: 8,000 Tebow: 7,000 Harrel: 11
I was voting for Harrell, but I was wondering wtf happened to him? Anyways my other choice is Colt Mccoy to win, I couldn't imagine what the UT team would be like without him in contrast to OU's team w Sam Bradford. ....But my real question is, wtf happen to Graham Harrell as a Heisman candidate? Does he not deserve as much recognition as the other guys? ..............................................................
OK, take away the Missouri game and Bradford has 4,080 yards on 393 attempts compared to McCoy's 3,445 yards on 375 attempts. So a difference of 635 yards and 18 attempts. That's still pretty significant and it highlights the knock on McCoy that he doesn't throw the deep ball well which Bradford does. Take away the BXII Championship game and McCoy has 23 more completions but 635 fewer yards. Why? Because Bradford is more capable of hitting the home run and making a big play with his arm.
Surprisingly enough I feel it should be a two man race between McCoy and Tebow with the slight edge to McCoy, its sad the votes cant come after the bowl games... Bradford is important to those gaudy offensive numbers but I think OU would still get it done without him. I'd put Ringer ahead of Bradford. Harrell had no chance, nobody in that offense should have a chance.
And their prediction lines up with my other post. Do you think it would be embarrassing for Harrell if it was revealed that he only got 76 votes while the other 3 got 1673, 1480, and 1471 votes respectively? That has to be the reason they didn't invite him.
I have always hated the "importance to team" criteria that people like to use. It punishes people that play for good teams or that have capable back ups. Like if a player played for an extremely talented dominant team he shouldn't win it because they could win without him but if he played on less talented team that was only "very good" where they'd struggle more without him then he should win the award. BS. I think it arose from taking the title Most Valuable Player too literally and now it's spread to awards that don't even use the term MVP. It should go to the best player based on performance. Period. None of this "Tebow is more important to Florida than McCoy is to Texas" crap. That should not be a factor.
