I personally wouldn't, at this point. But I was just curious as to what everyone else's opinion on the subject would be. He's already stated that he's going to leave San Antonio now that the season is over. Maybe he could find it in his heart to forgive and forget or whatever... Anyway, what do y'all think? ------------------ "There are three kinds of lies: Lies, Damned Lies, and STATISTICS..." - Mark Twain -
NO, Screw his old ass. You have to have hair on your head to play for the rockets. ------------------ President of the Moochie Norris FAN CLUB
Nope. ------------------ Wanna play in the clutchcity.net game? Got some ideas? E-mail me at philip_w_moore_jr@hotmail.com and I'll send a batch e-mail with details as they develop.
Tell Mario to cut off some of that flappy neck and maybe Ill consider it. Eeewww, dont want to be next to him on a windy day. On second thought, I wouldnt take him back even if he was flapless. He isnt the same player he was. But he still thinks he can talk. Its rather really sad. Really. ------------------ Cato is 7 feet tall.
*remembers a certain 3 pointer against Phoenix*... *feels a lump in his throat* Well, yes... I would take him back. ------------------
Where would he play? I don't know if I would take him back, but I don't think we should get him. He just does't fit into the scheme of things. He'd have to play behind Shandon and Mobley, and I don't know what his contract status is. (What is the minimum we could pay a veteran with his tenure, and what would be the minimum he would accept?) I don't think of Elie in the same way I do Maxwell, but I still don't like the way he left. ------------------ I have a dream.........his name's Hakeem.
Couldn't pay me to take his old tired *ss back. Phoenix exposed him for the decrepit, pathetic old man he has become these days. He's Clipper bait, IMHO. ------------------
Elie is a bad-ass and I love him. Obviously, he can't play for us anymore because of his age and because of the nature of his departure. But I'll still like him even if I don't want him. Personally, I think he'll be retiring soon: if not this off-season, then the next one. ------------------
Love Mario BUT, his strength is his weakness: he only plays Marioball when he has something to prove. It's great in certain situations, but in others - like his last year with the Rox and this year with SA - he sorta quits. I mean, he plays, but not with that emotion. It is a hard thing to do every night, but Mario does not have the skills to mail it in when he is bored. I will always rememeber the kiss of death, but he straight-up quit on the Rockets his last year with the team - and arguably the year before after returning from his hand surgery. He is a Hall OF Rocket Fame player, great story, but he has downside, too. CBFC ------------------
Have Elie come back for what? We are still trying to get rid of another old guy... ------------------ RAWW Paid for by the Frudy T. Gin and Juice Daquari Factory.
If the numbers work out I think Elie would be great for this team. He'd have to play as backup SF or 3rd string SG, but I think his energy and experience could really bring some fire to our guys. Then again, he did quit on us. So there is a big question as to whether he would have that great energy and emotion that defined his play during the glory years. Depending on what other pick ups we might get, and if his acquisition doesn't bar getting good young guys, I think we should take the chance if it presents itself. ------------------
Elie's "kiss" in Phoenix is one of the defining moments in Rocket history. He, possibly more than any other player during the championship years, gave the Rockets a swagger that is beginning to resurface with the current young roster. I'd rather remember him as he was -- in Rocket red and gold and at the top of his game. ------------------
He was one of my favorite Rockets players in history. He defined Clutch, he was one of the best clutch players. Sure I would love to have him back but then again I would also love to have Sam, Horry, and a few others back. ------------------ ~John~ If you make it idiot proof, they will make a better idiot. i'd have the old elie.. the blue-collar, tough, no-nonsense junkyard dog... back in an instant. but the elie now.. the whiner, trash-talker who think he still got game, the finger-pointing player, the pouter.. no, i'd rather not. ------------------ he shakes.. spins baseline.. fades away.. oh.. he buries the dreamshake again! what a move!
Nah Screw him . He has no game he only makes threes against US though . WHy doesnt he go back to Argentina and Play ------------------ DR
WHATCHU TALKIN' 'BOUT WILLIS? haha.. Elie showed a little bit in the play-offs last season, getting to the line, and also playing smart. He might be a valid contributor off the bench. What I don't want is for him to start harassing the young core of players that we currently have. I dunno, he's a free-agent this year, and the Spurs are definitely looking to get younger. -Elie17 ------------------
