Hedo's play this coming season will do the talking more than this mouthing off. I blame him for his failures in Toronto more than the Barneys. This season he should have something to prove and less partying and more dedication to basketball should help him bounce back.

How does this have anything to do with McGrady?

I agree with Hedo, but Turkoglu jumped at the chance to sign a multi-year deal with them. And who knows if Turkoglu hadn't dogged it so hard last season, the team could've at least made the playoffs.

Toronto's problem is that they've continually built around players who are very good but not elite players. Damon Stodemire, Vince Carter, and Chris Bosh are All-Star players, but none of them would ever take the Raptors to the Finals without a top-notch supporting cast. They've only made it past the first round once (in a very weak East). Colangelo certainly never provided complementary players around Bosh despite a #1 pick.

They need to blow up that Toronto team and build from scratch, but I don't think I'd trust Colangelo to do that at this point.

They also fail at team chemistry. They never have enough physical or mental toughness. Finally signing a player like JO a couple of years ago was a step in the right direction but he didn't have enough in the tank to help them much.

They have pretty much failed at all team building experiments so far in their short history. They've drafted poorly, and thrown money at over the hill free agents: JO, Turkoglu, Hakeem, etc. For their entire history, they've been at best a fringe playoff contender.

However, there's still no crime in that. They've had a poor run of luck (bad GM's, flawed stars, poor signings) for the past 15 years, but you don't get the feeling that there's deep organizational instability, just some rotten luck. The Raptors are bad, but let's keep in mind they're not the Clippers or Warriors. At least not yet. If their track record continues for another decade or so, they start to slide into that territory.

the op is a disgruntled Tmac fan who felt Tmac didn't deserve to be booed for not wanting to play with his cousin, the dunk champion, back when they were in toronto.

At least Toronto has made it past the first round of the playoffs.
