I own a 1993 Ford Taurus and my heater core started leaking pretty badly this past winter. I am looking to get a new one put in before the cold weather gets here. My dad (who knows quite a bit about cars) told me that this is no simple job and that it can get pricey. I looked online and found the price of the heater core itself to be pretty affordable at $40-$50. The labor, on the other hand, is what will get me. Anyone know of any good shops around the Houston area who are affordable and will do a good job? And for those of you who may know, is the job as difficult as my dad says?
Heater cores themselves are not that pricey. As for labor, on my 92 Mustang, the entire dash has to come out. It's one of those things that you never want to have go wrong on mustangs. I wouldn't know about the Taurus. Buy a Chilton's and see for yourself. It could be an easy job. Good Luck.
Thanks for the link... After reading that I can tell it's a pretty dificult job...but I gotta have the heat so I'll have to fork over the dough....
