http://sports.yahoo.com/nba/news?slug=aw-odomboozer071509&prov=yhoo&type=lgns I guess Wade's demands for becoming championship caliber is forcing the Heat management into action, though I find this entire thing to be somewhat unrealistic for the Heat as Odom already turned down a more lucrative contract from the Lakers and the Boozer-Hamilton deal makes more sense IMO.
I am pretty sure Pat Riley loves Odom maybe he can persuade him. The Boozer blurb also makes sense. The eastern conference needs the Heat to get these two guys in the worst way.
Thats the only way to keep Wade and become a contender. Its a good Idea that I would push hard for if I where them and wanted to keep their cashcow in Wade. Even if it meant throwing too much at Odom. if they fail to they lose Wade perhaps and they lose all creditability as a franchise until he is replaced. So the reward is high for the high investment anyway you look at the money.
If Wade really wants to win he isn't really going anywhere. Riley will always find a way to put a contender out there. Wade will realize that.
The Heat are getting scared. They know that he will sign with the Rockets next year. We move Battier's contract at the trade deadline to a contender like Boston for Scalabrine and House and thier expiring contracts to clear up space. Then resign Scola. Tell McGrady to take a damn PF - Scola SF - Ariza C - Yao SG - Wade PG - Brooks Bench: PG - Lowry SG/SF - Budinger PF - Landry C - Anderson YOU LIKE????????????????
Odom played very well with Dwyane Wade in 2003-04, Odom had one of the best seasons of his career and the Heat lost in the second round in 6 games. I think the Heat would benefit from having Odom, but I don't see why he would take a pay cut.
Good for Miami... I've always liked the Heat. I'd like to see some talent around Wade again. I'm so sick of the media all over Lebron James. I've never seen a guy as talented as Lebron show off non stop when things are going well and then run away from reality when things are going wrong (after every playoff series that he loses, getting dunked on by some college scrub, etc.) I'd much rather see the media give more attention to Wade. He's a much more humble player. The only time Ive ever seen Wade complain is now, but what Super-Star wouldnt be complaining? The guy is playing his heart out and has no help around him. At least he's giving the team a chance to make some changes instead of crying and demanding a trade. Anyways, I hope Miami goes out and gets Boozer and Odom. That'll make the Jazz awful again and the Lakers a little weaker Oh and also give Wade enough talent to keep Lebron from reaching the Finals again
They have to with the East teams getting stronger. Wade wants to win and the Heat must try to compete with the off season movements of other East teams to even have a chance of winning in the playoffs.
i see wade as the only free agent to leave the more money contract for another team. He is significantly older than lebron/bosh and his team has the least win now potential. Wade in a rockets jersey
If anybody can pull off this trade it's Pat Riley, he's the master of the blockbuster/superstar trade.
He didn't turn it down (though he did want a Hedo contract), the Lakers pulled it. He's finding out quickly that he's only going to see 60% of what he thought his market value was. Like Artest, it's better for an image standpoint to "voluntarily" accept smaller money for a destination you want than being forced to take the best offer from the Grizzlies.
The Boozer-Hamilton deal makes ZERO sense for the Jazz. The entire point of trading Boozer has little to do with basketball and is almost entirely financially motivated. The proposed trade with Miami and Memphis would involve Utah taking back considerably less salary than Boozer's $12.7M (due to the inclusion of Memphis, which is under the cap and can absorb some extra salary). Meanwhile, Rip Hamilton has FOUR more seasons remaining on his contract at $10-11M per. With the Jazz already having to take out a loan in order to match the Blazer's offer sheet for Millsap, I doubt Utah would want to swap salary for salary here.
5 years and 34 million in Miami near the beach with Wade a younger player and maybe better than Kobe. Also maybe better if they get Boozer as well? or Kobe in LA where he comes off the bench for 36 million and a owner who is dissing him? It might not be that far fetched to think Odom wants the beach, sand, Wade, a starting job, and roughly the same cash that LA would offer and a team that is showing they really want him. Lamar will be holding a press conference in Miami I think. Riley can be just as persuasive as Phil Jackson. Wade as Kobe. Miami is definately a more attractive a place vacation wise than LA to stay in. LAs got the Championship but there is no gurantee they get another. Odom is probably seriously considering this.
someone please let this happen, and then let Utah not get the paperwork in to match Millsap on time, making him a Blazer and leaving Utah with jack..
Well, if Pat Riley liked the 24 year old Odom he paid $10M, he's going to love getting the 29 year old Odom for the mid level. He's a much better player now, particularly around the rim.
I would love to see both of those guys go to the East! LA and Utah both weakened makes the path to the Finals much easier even if Portland gets a bit tougher. I'm starting to think this might be another San Antonio Championship season.
