I won't get my hopes up, but this would be awesome for Cleveland. Don't get me wrong, I love Z. Despite all his injuries and tons of money in the bank to show for it, he still plays for us even though he's been set for life a few years ago (kind of like Grant Hill's situation). I wish he could retire w/ the Cavs. At the same time Marion would make us quicker, give us another legit offensive threat, and he plays hard nosed D.
Marion makes 17-18 million. Z makes 13 million. They would have to add either pavolvic or another of there peices to make it work. Marion is just another guy who can do exactly what gooden of big z do:score, rebound. His defense is just a plus, but it won't make cleveland any better...just more versatile.
You can trade a player you just acquired as long as she is the only outgoing player. (we are talking about Shawn ) Gooden, Verajao and Z + filler/expirings could all kind of work for Miami. Bring in a cheaper but decent big man while cutting salary (Marion makes 16.4 and 17.2 next year, they only have to take back about 13.4 now creating a 4 mil trade exemption).
Anyone reading the Chad Ford chat right now? He just got a call about the Cavs trading 4 guys for Ben Wallace. He said take it w/ a grain of salt...I'll take it w/ a shot of tequila. I tried putting in a question for the Rox...no dice yet. BTW, he mentioned in chat that another GM was reading it and called him up about details about the proposed Wallace deal. It feels like the floor of the NYSE right now. BTW, RealCavsFans already has a 100 page thread on the Marion deal...although it's only ~10 posts a page so it's equivalent to maybe a 50 page thread here. He also mentioned GS has a big opportunity/deal but is reluctant to pull the trigger. EDIT: Chad also mentions Marion looks like he's staying put this season.
Interesting stuff. Wallace to the Cavs would be horrible IMO. Why don't the Heat think they can resign Marion? I bet the GSW trade involves J. O'Neal.
