Seikaly may be returnin to the league from overseas. If Miami signs him, they could drastically improve by filling (somewhat) the HUGE hole left by Alonzo. Granted, he is not the player Zo is, but he is surely capable, and can score.

It hurts to see Ron Seikaly's name mentioned in the same sentence as Zo. But if that is because he is their only available option, I would be asking who else Riles has looked at .... There are a couple capable players in Israel that come to mind.

I know it is early ... I know it is not respectful ... I know it is probably taboo .... but ...

I would trade Cato to Miami (we definitely need a third team involved here) for any favorable and available 5 position in the league. I base this on Cato's performance so far in the preseason, and his talent worth to other franchises. Most notably the Heat.

Well, they do have Causwell. Would getting Cato be an upgrade, a downgrade, or just another guy to have?

Are you thinking Nate Huffman here?

He's a guy I was getting REALLY excited about seeing in PJ's!!!

Actually D0D, Causwell is better than Cato. Just look at his numbers when Riles plays him. He gets into foul trouble like Cato, but is a monster on the boards. I would do a Causwell for Cato trade, however, Riley would never do that. Causwell has the drive that Cato lacks.

I agree with Oeilpere we should make a multi team trade with Miami and another team that is going to be in the first 6 in the lottery next year for their number one pick for Cato. This would leave us short at center for a year but would be worth it. Maybe Carlos could play center for short periods of time?

    1. Nate is definitely one of the guys I had in mind.

    2. Giving up Cato for picks would be paramount to diseaster to this team. You cannot simply say we are better without him. That is not true, and neither was it my point. It would be demporalizing and in effect, telling the rest of team that their personal ownership in the team effort to win is worthless. But trading a lacklustre Cato for a more apt and complimentry fit for our team is not wrong. Give me a guy like Carlos with about two-four more inches and about eighty-four more pounds! LOL

    3. There is no one that Riles would give up, or barring that, no one worth a damn that he would be willing to give up in return. He is not stupid. So a Causewell for Cato will never happen.

    4. I never suggested that Cato was worthless, just that based on his "new found" commitment to effort, I have seen little improvement. Okay he doesn't argue as much. He actually runs more. But, because of that all-encompassing "potential talent" label and the prevading Heat problem (without Zo), Cato's value maybe worth more now than later. IMESHO(In My Ever-So Humble Opinion), Cato will not end his career in Houston. So to me, it is not a qusetion of whether he will be traded somewhere, just when. Now seems as good a time as any, that's all.
