Do they ever work? Where's that guy that tracked all of Yao's touches. Do a heat-check analysis on the different Rockets players. I rage dumped in my pants when Rafer Alston threw one up.

lol thing is, Rafer isn't really doing the "heat check". He'll throw up those early jacked up threes with 20 secs left even if hes hot or not.

True, but Tracy McGrady and Artest will do that too sometimes when there are better options out there. And considering how the other guys have stepped up there are definitely better options for certain situations. I just hate seeing contested threes being thrown up.

It's only a heat check when they miss.

It doesn't work like NBA Jam? You make 3 baskets in a row, you're on fire and you can hit shots from anywhere?

Agreed, after a play hits their first shot, they will keep shooting, when they miss, It's called a heat check.

Some players (McGrady is a prime example) like to take increasingly difficult shots if they start hitting a few baskets in a row. To me, that's the epitome of selfish basketball -- putting your own glory ahead of the team.

Not really, that's just the only time you hear people complain about it.

I think the idea is that you take 1 really difficult shot to gauge how hot you are. Then, you know that your team can count on you take other tough shots when the shot clock is winding down. Every superstar wing player does it. It's only an issue when the player rarely gets hot or isn't a superstar anymore, like Tracy.

I think "rage dump" should replace "s*** a brick" from here on out.

Why cant you do this research yourself?
I love when people start a thread, demanding someone else to do thier research for them.

The "Heat Check" is usually done by a player who's been hitting their shots. There is some degree of difficulty, but more notably they are done with no regard for shot clock or passing to team-mate to get a better shot. They've made up their mind that they are "in the zone" and have made up their mind they will shoot the ball as soon as it comes to them. Now, I've never "rage dumped in my pants" before, but it does really piss me off!
