This is what I was told and it is not confirmed, but Kob to the Mavs is in the works for Howard, Terry, and 2 number 1's.

    Don't kill the messenger.

    apparently kobe FLIP FLOPPED again.

it was reported that he cleaned out his locker by a source inside the organization and now kobe said he didn't clean out his locker.

kobe just now said he wants to play for the lakers more than anything and ready to "strap it up" and wants to finish his career as a laker (um who started this whole thing?)

kobe is pissed at buss that he started all this now (hmm, who got at buss first)

but yes, looks like it's REALLY close to going down

    kobe-dirk v. tmac-yao v. duncan-parker-ginobili? oh my

a source talked to phil (just went on the station here in LA) and said kobe cleaned out MOST of his locker.

the trade is CLOSE right now. but kobe is trying to say he wants to stay so he wouldn't be the "bad" guy in this thing to laker fans.

kobe is playin games right now w/ laker fans. u should hear the calls comin in. oh my goodness. it's HILARIOUS.

It ain't enough for Dallas. They still don't have a post presence. Can't get it done that way.

i think the reason they're willing to do this trade w/ dallas is that most importantly they get 2 first round picks (don't know what yr), they have a SF so odom can still play his PF position. and they fix their PG position w/ terry.

    http://www.theticket.com/listen.htm

I tuned in to "The Ticket" 5-10 minutes ago after I saw this thread and they're just goofing around ... talking some Cowboys and random stuff. Nothing on this so far.

Yeah they actually admitted it was a longshot. They were speculating that he is more likely to go to Phx (Stoudemire) or the Bulls (Hinrich, Noah and about 4 others).

kobe plz go east I am begging you.

But, Kobe, Dirk would be a sick 1-2 punch, dirk is a p***y but Kobe makes up for that because he is fearless, Kobe would take all the shots at the end anyways so Dirk doesn't have to embarrass himself.

now they say he cleaned "up" his locker, not out. my god. the drama.

but it all points to the end of the kobe era. even if he plays in LA this year, he won't be here next yr. and the lakers will be mediocre this yr anyways.

it's hard to imagine kobe in another uniform.

This whole thing has become so ridiculous. What a complete tease on both sides.

The Lakers say they want a superstar in return, does Josh Howard fit that for them? Howard just isn't a household name outside of Dallas.

    From AOL NBA FanHouse:

Kobe Denies He's About To Be Traded
    Posted Oct 16th 2007 5:58PM

UPDATE: Apparently, Kobe's people just went on local radio to deny he's cleaned out his locker and says he's ready to compete for the seventh seed play for the Lakers. More updates ASAP.
    ------
We're just the messengers here: Loud, persistant rumors emanating from Los Angeles say Kobe Bryant is on the verge of being traded. Dallas is the rumored destination. Josh Howard, Jason Terry and draft picks are the rumored bounty.

Apparently, some talk radio guys in L.A. -- talk radio guys described to me by an Angeleno as fellows who stretch even the bounds of talk radio standards on sensational rumor-mongering -- reported on-air that Kobe's locker has been cleaned out. Another rumor says Kobe and his agent Rob Pelinka were seen meeting with Jerry Buss and Mitch Kupchak today. Verifiable reports say Kobe's missed practice the last two days (blaming a sore knee) and hasn't talked to reporters since leaving Hawaii.

These rumblings could very well have no truth behind them. But even I'll admit things feel quite weird around the webs all of a sudden. Stay tuned.

does anyone else think that this may hurt the mavs a bit? its really hard to say that kobe wouldn't mess up the dynamic that terry and howard added to the team... granted, the idea of having dirk and kobe on the same team is terrifying, but i think we could take them now in terms of depth. stackhouse will probably start if they leave so their spark off the bench would also diminish.
