apparently, Teddy loved 'em. . given his two signature accomplishments in life are the destruction of one man's reputation, and taking the life of a young woman, i say, humor is indeed the best method for dealing with our grief as a nation. via American Digest: And he should've known It's hard to understand That there's love in this man I'm sure all would agree That his misery was his Woman and things Now Teddy's dead That's what I said there- i feel better already.
You see what happened in the Ted Kennedy thread with FFB. So you decide to post an entire new thread poking fun at him while feigning sorrow. Were you born a jackass or is it a skill you had to cultivate?
So as to avoid censure, please go [expletive deleted] [second person article deleted]. In the spirit of light-hearted banter with which this post was clearly submitted, may I suggest that you go diving off that selfsame bridge, just as quickly as possible. Go searching for those remaining air pockets, as quick as you can. There's already another thread, basso. Your unoriginal replication of an originally funny National Lampoon bit belonged there.
that thread has taken it's own direction. given the sensitivity Teddy lui stesso showed towards this subject, i thought it merited it's own thread. also, just saw inglorious basterds, and am in a black (no racist) humor frame of mind.
Apparently, the one source for this is Ed Klein, whose latest book is a gossipy bio of Katie Ciuric and the same guy who wrote a hit piece bio of Hillary in which he claimed that Chelsea only came about because Bill forcibly raped her. Here's a little info on the guy who says Teddy liked those jokes... This is the guy you cite to intentionally slander a man being buried today. You are an ass.
i slander? no, he slandered Robert Bork, and is responsible for the death of Mary Jo Kopechne. his most notable legislative accomplishment is one you routinely lament. if you can't see the humor, at least acknowledge that he was a drunken, buffoonish joke.
One of his most notable legislative accomplishments is saving us from a Supreme Court with Robert Bork as a judge. There was no slander involved. Obviously you haven't cared enough to look at his accomplishments, since you don't know what his most notable one was.
Yet you start this thread saying that humor is the best way to deal with our grief. Log off and go back to weeping your crocodile tears. The fact is that you started this thread to be incendiary and to take a dig at a dead man. Classy.
Tell me Basso if Laura Bush were to die suddenly how would you feel if some one started a thread titled "Heard any good car wreck jokes?" Ted Kennedy was a drunk, he also was involved in a tragic accident that left a young woman dead to which he dealth very poorly with initially. He also spent a lifetime fighting for civil rights and passing legislation that he believed was in the best interest of the country. It was no accident that a current president and three former presidents, including GW Bush, were at his funeral or that Senators such as Orrin Hatch and John McCain praised him and called him a friend. Agree with his politics or not there is no denying that he was a major figure in American politics for the past 40 years. Do reduce him to just one tragic accident for cheap scorn is a disservice to history. For that matter if you really do care about Mary Jo Kopechne and her memory you are disgracing her memory too through cheap humor to win political points.
I only hope basso's kids have the capacity to appreciate this kind of awesome thread starting...i sure do!
basso if you want to discuss the media's coverage of teddy's death and the lack of mentioning of the accident then you should just say that instead of trying to start these shock threads. this isn't a blog, and you'll catch more flies with honey than ****
actually, i just wanted to see if anyone had heard any good chappaquiddick jokes. given teddy's professed fondness for them, seemed like a fitting tribute to the man.
Seeing as how there is only one highly questionable source that says he had a fondness for them, you don't know that he had a professed fondness. The volume of failed threads, and ideas put forward by you, on here is amazing.
Whether she did or not would you think it would be respectful to try to bring that up if she were to pass away? Also what do you think the Kopechne family would think about a thread titled, "Heard any new Chappaquidick jokes lately?"
